Heavy Metal Rankings NFL Week 4 2009

Hey there friends. Injuries is the name of the game for week 3 of the NFL. Key injuries to some teams may hinder their chances for playoff hopes or simply guide them to throw in the towel early. Chad Pennington, Frank Gore, Marion Barber to name a few of the key players who are out. Let's take a look at the rankings.

1. New Orleans Saints 3-0 (prev. #1)

QB Drew Brees continues to fire it up while taking care of the Buffalo Bills last week. He didn't do it alone though. RB Pierre Thomas came back and ran over the Bills to the tune of 120+ yards and 2 TDs. If the running game continues to be as explosive as the passing game, I don't see anyone in the league outscoring the Saints. Next: New York Jets

2. New York Giants 3-0 (prev. #3)

QB Eli Manning made it look easy against the pathetic Tampa Bay Bucs. A swarming defense and a smooth offense simply was too much for the Bucs to handle. They should continue to roll with another cake walk game against the Chiefs. Next: @Kansas City Chiefs

3. Minnesota Vikings 3-0 (prev. #4)

QB Brett Favre shows the world that his arm still has some of that magic left. After trailing the impressive looking 49ners, Brett Favre relied on his arm to lead his team to a victory with 2 seconds left in the clock. As cliche as it may sound, it never gets old to see a last second TD for the win. Will Brett need to rely on his magic against his old team? Next: Green Bay Packers

4. New England Patriots 2-1 (prev. #8)

The New England defense must have been tired of people calling them done because they showed up to play against an up and coming Atlanta offense. Atlanta QB Matt Ryan had no answers for the stout defense as they held Atlanta to a mere 10 points. If QB Tom Brady can take care of the Baltimore defense this week, then we can proclaim that Tom is back to top form. Next: Baltimore Ravens

5. Baltimore Ravens 3-0 (prev. #9)

Baltimore is looking like a team to beat in the NFL. The only reason they're not ranked higher is because they need to play a formidable offense (sorry KC and Cleveland, you guys don't count). The next coming weeks have them against New England and Cincy. We will be able to better gauge this team once we see how well the defense plays. Next. @New England Patriots.

6. New York Jets 3-0 (prev. #6)

QB Mark Sanchez continues to impress as he's avoiding the costly mistakes and leading the Jets into their third straight victory. The Titans were desperate for a win and the Titan defense definitely keep them at bay. If the jets can pull out a victory over the red hot Saints, heads will turn. Next: @New Orleans Saints

7. Indianapolis Colts 3-0 (prev. unranked)

The Colts had some shaky moments this season and the fact that they only had the ball for under a quarter 2 weeks ago was cause for concern for the defense. Indy QB Peyton Manning put the team on his back, now that DL Dwight Freeney is injured. He threw for 4 TDs as he dispelled the Cardinals. Next: Seattle Seahawks

8. Pittsburgh Steelers 1-2 (prev. #5)

The Steelers are beginning to worry me. Steeler QB Big Ben is good enough to win games on his own (week 1) yet the Steelers are staring at a 1-2 record. Without their star defensive player Troy, the Steeler defense is average, at best. It won't get any easier with the Chargers coming up next. Next: San Diego Chargers

9. Atlanta Falcons 2-1 (prev. #2)

Atlanta was humbled by the Patriots. What we learned from that game is that if QB Matt Ryan cannot connect with TE Tony Gonzalez, the Falcons are in trouble. Look for teams to follow suit and take away that weapon from Atlanta in the coming weeks. Next: Bye

My Oakland Raiders 1-2: The Raiders continue to disappoint. In a matchup against division rival, Denver, the Raiders put up little to no fight. Denver easily marched up and down the field with the Raider defense doing little to stop them. Raider QB JaMarcus Russell continues with his struggles with accuracy. Raider coach Tom Cable has stood by his QB and named him the starter in week 4 but if the bad play continues, we may see the young QB pulled in favor of the back up. WR Chaz Schilens is scheduled to return this week. Maybe he'll be the one to spark a fire to this lethargic offense. Next: @Houston Texans

On A Bad Wheel

Hey there. Earlier today, while on the freeway, we blew out a tire. It absolutely sucks, having to pull over on the freeway to change a tire. As we were driving, that unmistakable sound of a flat tire started getting louder. At first, I thought it was the road, since some stretches of freeway are pretty bumpy and it's very similar to that of a flat. After about 2 seconds or so of hearing the noise, my wife brought it to my attention. That's when I pulled over on the shoulder and put on the emergency lights to check it out. I go out there and see that one of the rear tires is flat. Oh man...

My wife can get pretty nervous when we're off to the side of the freeway. And who can blame her? Cars are zooming past you and if one is not paying attention, one can easily rear end your car. I have family and friends that have been injured or lost their lives because they were on the shoulder off the freeway. It's just not a place to be. My wife suggested that I get back in the car and drive off the freeway. I didn't want to risk us driving on pure rims. The tire was pretty flat and since we have performance tires, there really isn't much rubber between the rim and the road. I decided that it would be best to put in the back up tire and then get it replaced.

I hate driving on the back up tire. It's noticeably smaller than the others, but what really gets me is that I do not feel comfortable driving long distances with it. Tomorrow, we'll be getting on the freeway going to my mother in law's place and I don't want to drive with that tire longer than I need to. I stopped at Pep Boys after dropping my wife off at home. I wanted to make sure that the car was OK and that we're good to drive with that tire. Everything checked out OK but the guy tried to get me to buy 3 tires and get the 4th free. lol I was thinking of getting the tire that I needed and getting it replaced, but after hearing that the tire alone was $140, I second guessed it. Now, I'm looking for the tire online to see where I can get it for the best price. I don't want to wait long since I need to make sure that the car is in top shape since I do not want to have any set backs when I need to rush my wife to the hospital. Until then. Later.

Trouble at the Hospital

Hey there. Quick update on my little cousin. They are removing the breathing tube tonight. They had to insert one due to breathing problems. I didn't even know that a breathing tube was inserted until my mother stopped by with some news. She dropped off her kid and a little cousin of mine so that she and my grandma can go and see my cousin in the hospital. Later that evening, I get a text saying that the tube had tube had to be reinserted and that the machines started going off. Pretty scary stuff but that was all the info she had. I'm hoping my little cousin will pull through this alright. Later.

My Little Cousin Has Meningitis

Hey there. Yesterday, I was told that my little cousin was in the hospital. From the Email that my mother sent me, she has been there since Monday evening. It has to be one of the most weirdest illnesses that I have ever seen or heard of. My mother described my cousin's behavior like that of Linda Blair in The Exorcist. My cousin, 5 years old, was thrashing about, yelling obscenities at everyone, and started biting anyone that tried to calm her. At first, her mother thought that it was a tantrum, but when the little one started having "seizure like" movements, she was admitted to the hospital.

Last night, my wife and I went to go visit her and some of my family members were hanging out in the lobby. We asked how she was doing and we all got the same response that she is still acting odd and that we should've seen her last night. My uncle started to describe the scene the same way as my mother did. That it was something out of The Exorcist movie. I showed him a bottle of holy water that we brought, courtesy of my mother in law, and he thought it would be a good idea to sprinkle some in the room.

My wife and I then got a chance to visit her in her room. As we walked in, the lights were dimmed and my cousin's mom was trying to calm her daughter. Soon after we walked in, my cousin started cursing under her breath. My wife and I couldn't believe what we were hearing. A little girl, sweet as hell, yelling out these words is just not right. I know it was hurting her mother being called a B**** and to F*** off and what not. It was as if another person took over my lil cousin's body. We noticed that she was trapped to her bed so she started to yell that she needed to get down and called her mother more curse words demanding that she be released. A nurse soon walked in and advised that it's not best to have visitors if she's acting up since she needs to rest as much as possible and have as little stimulation as possible. We ended up going back to lobby and told our family what went down. They described our experience as mild compared to how she the night before.

From what we were told, she has meningitis, which is some kind of viral infection in her brain that causes her to act and react the way she does. It's so weird because you figure that an illness would not control your body to react so violently. Another cousin of mine likened it to Jim Carrey's character in Me, Myself, and Irene. How his character (Charlie) is nice yet, when provoked, he turns into a completely different person (Hank). It just seems that it's a different girl taking over my little cousin's body. She's on antibiotics to kill off the viral infection. She's going to be on them for the next 2 weeks or so. After hearing another person's experience with meningitis, my family started to prepare themselves for a long bout with this disease.

Turns out that the 2 week antibiotic treatment is just the beginning and if she makes a full recovery, it can take anywhere from 6 to 8 months of medication and therapy. She will be in bed so much that her body will need to relearn how to walk and move about like a normal child would. Another thing that bothered us was that the docs said that the hallucinations may not go away entirely. That's right, my little cousin is hallucinating. She's complained of spiders on the walls, she's been ice skating in her bed, and even started yelling at aliens to leave her alone. It's just horrible that a young is experience this, or any kind of illness that can severely manipulate your body and mind in that manner.

I'm going to try and find out how she's doing now. I'll catch up with you guys later. Later.

Back to School Night

Hey there. Last night was back to school night. It's usually a huge snore fest since it's the teachers going over the student's learning plan for the year. The highlight of the night is always the one piece of work that they showcase for their parents. Our daughter showcased a poem and our son went with a drawing of himself. Check em out below:

Our boy is always drawing stuff and our daughter is always writing so it doesn't surprise me that this is where they headed towards their one piece of work. I love the drawing, it resembles our boy and the poem is off the charts. lol I substituted her name with "Metallman's Daughter". I don't have her permission to post it, but because I'm daddy, I'm sure she wont mind. This was definitely the highlight of back to school night. Later.

Heavy Metal Rankings NFL Week 3 2009

Hey there. Another week of NFL football is now in the books and another week of great games have been witnessed. Dallas unveiled their new stadium, Philly showed what they can do without QB Mcnabb and Oakland took their slogan, "Just Win Baby" quite literally. On the the rankings.

#1 New Orleans Saints 2-0 (prev. #3)

Can anyone beat the Saints? QB Drew Brees continues to light up the score board, scoring almost 100 points in 2 games. The man is on pace to break all kinds of passing records if this offense continues to play in "god" mode. The Philly defense kept the Eagles close in the first half but they failed to show up in the second half while Drew Brees cut them up for 31 second half points. Next @Buffalo Bills

#2 Atlanta Falcons 2-0 (prev. #1)

QB Matt Ryan is feeling pretty good now that he has a go to receiver in TE Tony Gonzalez. He threw for over 200 yards and 3 scores against the Panthers, despite Carolina RB Cadillac Williams and WR Steve Smith had great games. @New England Patriots

#3 New York Giants 2-0 (prev. #8)

QB Eli Manning showed his worth to this team by doing something that Dallas QB Tony Romo has not, lead his team to a win in a big game. The Giants battled the Cowboys in the brand new Dallas stadium. Despite not have a go to receiver, Eli has found several receivers to pick up the slack. None more than up and coming WR Mario Manningham, picking up 150 yards and a score. @Tampa Bay Buccaneers

#4 Minnesota Vikings 2-0 (prev. #6)

The gunslinger we all know and love may be no more as Minnesota QB Brett Favre continues to step aside to the RB Adrian Peterson show. The problem with the Vikings is that they are starting games slowly, letting the Lions have a halftime lead before putting them to sleep in the second half. Next: San Francisco 49ers

#5 Pittsburgh Steelers 1-1 (prev. #5)

The Steeler running game is beginning to worry me. Despite them losing to the Bears, they could have come up with the win if not for missed field goals by K Jeff Reed, they could have come up with a win against a hot red Chicago QB in Jay Cutler. Next: @Cincinnati Bengals

#6 New York Jets 2-0 (prev. unranked)

Young Jets QB Mark Sanchez is looking like a season veteran, outplaying the Patriots QB Tom Brady. He may not have had impressive numbers but he managed the game well and relied on a balance passing and running attack to take down the mighty Patriots. Next: Tennessee Titans

#7 Philadelphia Eagles 1-1 (prev. #2)

Second string QB Kevin Kolb had himself a great game, throwing close to 400 yards and 2 TDs. The problem? He was up against the QB Drew Brees and the Saints. The Saints defense allowed the Eagles to stay in the game but once Drew got going, they simply blew the Eagles out of the sky. Next: Kansas City

#8 New England Patriots 1-1 (prev. #4)

Is it time to panic in New England? The Patriots did not have an answer to the Jets offense. QB Tom Brady looked confused and fluttered and did not look like anything of the cool and collected QB of Super Bowls past. The defense has definitely suffered this year and if the offense cannot bail them out, the Pats will have a mediocre season at best. Next: Atlanta Falcons

#9 Baltimore Ravens 2-0 (prev. unranked)

The Baltimore Ravens are relying more on QB Joe Flacco and the offense than their legendary defense. That doesn't mean that the defense doesn't have it's moment in the sun. With time running out, LB Ray Lewis tackles Charger RB Darren Sproles for a loss on 4th down to secure the victory for the Ravens. Next: Cleveland Browns

My Oakland Raiders 1-1 :
What an ugly game for the Raiders. Negative 7 yards for the first quarter. Are you kidding me? Raider QB JaMarcus Russell simply looked awful. His accuracy seemed to diminish from the San Diego game. Against Kansas City, he throws for a little over 100 yards with about 70 of those coming on the final drive of the game. Quite frankly, the Raiders had no business winning this game. KC out played the Raiders and out gained them by over 200 yards. With all that, the Raiders came up with the victory. Al Davis preaches, "Just Win, Baby" and the Raiders definitely just won the game and did little of anything else. Next: Denver Broncos.

We Are Now Considered Full Term

Hey there. We have entered our 37th week of pregnancy. That means that if baby decided to pop out today, all should be good. We had a little scare a few weeks ago when the doctor put my wife on bed rest, but that only lasted for a week. What my wife got off of that is 1 week of bed rest and getting out of work more than 2 weeks earlier than she would have liked.

She's not liking this staying at home business. Actually, she's not staying at home. She's staying at her mom's house. I don't want her to be by herself in case the baby decides he wants to be born, I'll be able to get to her quickly. She wanted to stay home, by herself, which is over 15 miles away and I need to get on the freeway to get there. On top of that, it's driving AWAY from the hospital where her doctor is going to deliver her. I'm just not very keen on the idea of her being farther away from me than she needs to be. I don't want to be stuck in a traffic jam and not be able to get to her quickly if she were to go into labor and she's at home. I just don't like that idea.

So she's at her mom's place and she's expressed to me that she's extremely bored there. I told her to take some books, magazines, or even Guitar Hero to keep herself entertained. Our due date is 3 weeks away, but baby can be here any day now. Just a little bit longer, babe. Just a little bit longer. Later.

And That Makes 4

Hey there. Just got back from a baby shower that my mother threw for us. That brings the total to 4 baby showers! We still have the stuff in the car. We'll go get to it tomorrow. Right now, we're just going to sit back and chill in bed. I don't feel like doing any online work tonight. I'll just catch up on all of today's NFL action. Later.

A Shooting Pain

Hey there. I have this shooting pain that comes and goes on my right side of my body. In simple terms, it sucks. I just started getting it and it pretty much paralyzes my for the length of the pain. It's happened twice this past hour and my wife thinks it may be my appendix. I'm going to look up symptoms since she's heard that people that have had their appendix removed, they were in intense pain. I'm not in that kinda pain but man, it sure does hurt! I'm going to try and walk it off. I'll catch you guys later. Later.

Lose the Ugly, Find the Bliss

Hey there friends. The world is full of ugly. You know, as in ugly fashion, ugly machines, and ugly cars. I've recently come to see my phone as ugly. Why? Because it's always crashing, I always have to restart it, the internal memory is nowhere near enough to keep it running while browsing the internet. It's just an ugly phone to me. What I, and we, need is a little more bliss. A LG Bliss phone, that is.
LG is offering facebook members a chance to find their bliss by posting any picture or video that they consider ugly on their LG Bliss Facebook Fan Page for a chance to win a new LG Bliss phone. It's pretty simple, if you ask me. Post an ugly picture (can't go wrong with the ugliest dog in world!) or a video of what you consider ugly and enter for your chance to win 1 of the 5 grand prize LG Bliss phone. LG is also giving away a $50 gift card to 50 runner ups so you're actually entering 2 drawings at once. You need to be 18 so if you're underage, you'll be missing out on the drawing, but it shouldn't discourage you from posting your ugly pictures. And don't forget to keep it civil, friends. We don't want to see pictures or videos of violence and we don't want to hurt people's feelings so no photographs of people are allowed.

Contest runs from 9.11.09 to 11.06.09 so you still have time to find the ugly in your life and share it with participating facebook members. Feel free to check out The Gallery of the Utterly Ugly at LG Bliss Facebook Fan Page to check out other member's ugly things. Check out the nifty widget to the right for the daily look in what is ugly. Hope everyone finds a little bliss today. Later.

Operation: Baby Furniture

hey there. Operation baby furniture is now complete. This weekend, my mother got us a crib. We were glad that we got it since we've been wanting to put it up so that we can gauge how the room is going to look now that the baby will be staying in the same room as our son. When I opened the box, the crib was broken. I could not believe it. I sent a text to my mother that night to let her know that it was busted. She came to pick it up a few days later and I finally got it in the room. The changer, crib, dresser and all kinds of stuff are now in place. All we need now is the baby. =oD We can't wait! Later.

Heavy Metal Rankings Week 2 2009

Hey there. What a great weekend of football that was! We saw some pretty close games that were taken to the wire, we saw the return of Brett Favre and Tom Brady, and we got our first real glimpse of how the teams measure up to each other. I had the Pats in the top spot last week, but after seeing how their run defense is not up to par (maybe they miss Tedy more than they believed), I have to knock them down. Check it out.

1. Atlanta Falcons (prev. #4)

Altanta was the only team in my rankings that actually looked good last week. QB Matt Ryan and his new TE Tony Gonzalez are a forced to be reckoned with they showed the NFL world that there are here to play. Their defense isn't too shabby either, completely flustering the Dolphin defense. They should have no problem taking care of Carolina's Jake Delhomme and his horrible play. Next: Carolina Panthers

2. Philadelphia Eagles (prev. #8)

Philly looked great on offense. They seemed to imposed their will on the Panthers. The big question mark now is QB Donovan McNabb's cracked ribs. I don't see them beating the very potent New Orleans Saints this week. Next: New Orleans Saints

3. New Orleans Saints (prev. unranked)

Has anyone looked better in the pocket these last 2 seasons than QB Drew Brees? The man is on fire and he continues to light up the score board, torching the Lions for 350+ yards passing and 6 TD passes. Even with RB Pierre Thomas out for the game, RB Mike Bell stepped in and ran over the Lions to the tune of 140+ yards. Next: @Philadelphia Eagles

4. New England Patriots (prev. #1)

The Bills should have won the game against the Patriots if not for that costly fumble on the kick off return. QB Tom Brady is showing that his knee is working out great and he looks just as fearless as ever before, but without that stout defense of years past, Tom may be asked to carry this team, and then some. Next: @New York Jets

5. Pittsburgh Steelers (prev. #2)

QB Ben Roethlisberger put the Steelers on his shoulders and willed them to a victory last week in a tight game against the Titans. In a game where field position was key, the running game was a liability for the Steelers (only 30 or so yards for the game!). You don't win many games when your team rushes for less than 40 yards a game. Next: @Chicago Bears

6. Minnesota Vikings (prev. unranked)

QB Brett Favre makes his debut... and manages the game??? That's right. This is not Brett Favre's team and more RB Adrian Peterson's team. The RB ran for an astounding 180+ yards against the Jets to ease Brett's transition. If Adrian continues to run at this pace, he will shatter the 2000 yard mark! Look for him to have another incredible game against the lowly Lions. Next: @Detroit Lions.

7. Tennessee Titans (prev. #3)

The Titans matched up well against the defending champs and nearly came away with the victory. The defense looked great, despite the departure of Albert Haynesworth, and held the Steelers to 1 TD for the game. Next: Houston Texans

8. New York Giants (prev. #9)

The lack of a go to wide receiver for QB Eli Manning was apparent against the Redskins. Eli passed the ball to several receivers but when they needed the speed and strength of Plaxico Burress, the Giants fell short. The return of DE Osi Umenyiora is a huge boost to this defense. The defense came up with 3 sacks, and interception, and 2 forced fumbles. That defense will need to be in top shape now that they'll be traveling to Dallas. Next: @Dallas Cowboys

9. Green Bay Packers (prev. unranked)

The Pack was in a defensive battle with the Chicago Bears on Monday night, with the Pack just edging out the Bears. I don't know if that bodes well for the Packers, a team with Super Bowl dreams. Chicago QB Jake Cutler threw 4 interceptions and despite that, the Packers were behind in the fourth quarter. If not for the blown coverage by the Bears and a great pass to WR Greg Jennings in the final minutes of the game, the Pack could very well be down 0-1 in their division.

My Oakland Raiders: What a game against the San Diego Chargers! This was a definitely a game of two halves. The Raiders simply beat up on the Chargers in the first half. They ran all over their defense and RB Darren McFadden and RB Micheal Bush gashed them and drove down the field. The defense was just a good as the running game, with newly acquired DE Richard Seymour making an immediate impact in the game, recording 2 sacks and assisting in many tackles. The passing game is what hurt the Raiders. QB JaMarcus Russell is still having issues with accuracy. He over threw many passes and to wide open receivers too. The only bright spot in the passing game continues to be the Raider's TE Zack Miller. He had 96 yards receiving, coming up huge on several third down situations. That doesn't mean that the receivers didn't get theirs. WR Louis Murphy had 87 yards receiving and is developing to a go to receiver for Russell. Considering that the team believes that WR Chaz Schilens is their best receiver, the wide receiver corps may finally be coming of age. Next game: @Kansas City Cheif

The Man Rules

Hey there. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus. There are those that learned to speak the other's language and then there are the rest of us. Well, some determined soul decided that he will try to iron out some rules for the women out there to better understand their men. lol Check it out. Later!

THE MAN RULES!

1. Men are NOT mind readers.

Entrecard No More, At Least for Metallman

Hey there. I've decided. I will no longer be an active participant in Entrecard. At least not full time as before. There have been too many changes to their system that I have been put off by all the system issues and their down time. If you miss a day of dropping, it significantly drops your ranking and now that you're limited to 300 EC a day, it makes it tough to be able to advertise and provide incentives for readers to drop on your page. I would spend over an hour on Entrecard alone. Dropping and purchasing ads. Checking out the market place and making sure I fulfill my orders, but considering what went down the last couple of months, I just don't find it worth it any more. I'm going to leave the widget on my site. This will still bring in credits from those that advertise on my site, but I my dropping will cease and my market place ads will be discontinued.

I've tried to gut it out, but it's just not happening. Maybe sometime in the future, when they get their act together, I'll revisit the site and be a participating member again, but until then, count me out. Later.

Breakfast, Car and the Hospital

Hey there. What a day. I decided last night that I would treat the family to breakfast this morning. Yesterday, while I was at work, my wife was enjoying breakfast at IHOP. I wanted IHOP! lol I think it was more me not wanting to be at work. lol Anyways, we got up this morning having most of our planned out.

We left this morning for breakfast at around 9 to 9:30. We went to Norms for breakfast. We had ourselves a lot of food. We all had pancakes and steak and what not. We didn't finish it but while we sat there we decided that we needed to go to the hospital to register. It helps to register early so that when it's baby time, the hospital will have all your info and you're streamlined into a room. I told my wife that I wanted to get everything done today so that I could watch football tomorrow uninterrupted. We agreed and the next stop was the bank.

We need a bigger vehicle. Our Mazda Protege does not accommodate more than 5 people and once the baby is here, we'll be a family of 6. There is a friend of the family that fixes cars for a living. The guy is straight up with us and tell you exactly how it is. You pretty much tell him the model of car you want, he'll go out and bid on one for you, he'll fix it up, and then you pick it up. My wife's family has bought 3 cars from him, including the one we drive now so we have the utmost confidence that he will be able to get us a reliable vehicle.

So after getting the money we were off to drop off our deposit. Then we realize... Our registration papers are at my mother in laws house so we have to go and pick them up. So off we go to go and get them. Naturally, it was out of our way. lol Once we pick them up, we get some directions from my brother in law and off we go to drop off our deposit. The ride over there sucked. Living in LA, I'm used to being able to reach my destination via freeway. Well, we couldn't reach him via freeway so we driving through the streets for most of the way. Stop and go traffic is frustrating. So we finally get there and I tell the guy what we're interested. We'll looking for a Mazda MPV. Mazda's are reliable. I have not had one person say that they are not happy with their Mazda. So once we give him the scoop, I get my receipt and off we go to the hospital.

Just my luck, my boy decided to tell me about some cool thing he read in his Game Informer magazine and I ended up taking the wrong exit and drove a few miles in the wrong direction. After getting off the freeway and going back towards downtown Los Angeles, we finally make it to the hospital. We grab our forms and into the hospital we go. We tell the security that we're here to register and guess what he says. Guess....

"Sorry. Admissions is closed today."

UGH!!!! All that driving and we can't even register?! My wife showed the security that the admission form that she filled out clearly state that admissions is closed at 8:30 PM. The guy says that admissions is closed at 12:30 PM on Saturdays and it being close to 3:00 PM, then points to the admission desk and shows that there's no one there. My wife and I were upset. We walked out in disgust and head towards to the car.

We jump back on the freeway and head towards Babies R Us. I promised my wife that we would purchase the crib bedding. Once at the store, we browse around and end up with more than the bedding. We got a sheet and a mobile as well at this really cool emergency kit with medicine. Afterwards, we finally headed for home. We must have gotten there at around 4:30 ish. That is approx. 7 hours away from home and a good chunk of that was spent driving. Needless to say, we are tired.

My mother sent me a text saying that she MAY stop by tomorrow with a crib so that we can have it set up. Baby may coming soon and that's the last piece of furniture that we need. Hopefully, she'll show up tomorrow and get that set up. Until then, later.

The Use of Foul Language at Work

Hey there. We spend most of our lives at work. There is no doubt about it. Sometimes, our best judgment eludes us when we are pushed to our breaking point. Here are some pointers, from Human Resources of course, of how to go about those trying times. lol Enjoy.

Number 17
TRY SAYING: You want me to take care of that?
INSTEAD OF: Who the f*** died and made you boss?

Number 18
TRY SAYING: He's somewhat insensitive.
INSTEAD OF: He's a d***.

Thank You,
Human Resources

Rebranding Metallman?

Hey there. I was thinking... should I make a change as to how I am presenting myself? I have been going around the blogging world and notice that many bloggers, like myself, created a symbol or image to represent their blog. My symbol is that which you see in this paragraph. The name Metallman sprawled across a red dragon. I like it. I think it suits me well. However, I've noticed that many decide to place an image of themselves as the image to represent their blogs, and or websites. This intrigues me. Would it be better to project an image of yourself to personify your blog? Or would a character or symbol be better suited to represent your brand? I understand that to each their own, but would you be more inclined to read a blog if you know the face behind it?

If you don't mind, I want to use a blogging friend of mine as an example. Here is his mark on the world. I'll be the first to admit that I was drawn to the image. Being a dragon lover, I thought that the dragon displayed is simply bad ass. I knew nothing of the man behind it and already I was drawn to the site. This, my friends, is the power of a great image. Now, after several months of getting to know the man behind the image, I no longer see the dragon as the representative of the site, but I see the man behind the words. The site doesn't seem as anonymous to me anymore once I've seen the face that runs it all. It's almost as if I can connect to the blogger on a more personal level because of that. So I wonder, would it be wise to display your face as the image of your site? Would you check out a blog if a person where to greet you instead of an image? If the Dragon Blogger had his face to represent him in the blogging community, would I or anyone else, initially, still be drawn to his site? This is where I stand.

Mind you, the Dragon Blogger has other sites and uses an image of himself in one. I am curious to know how well that site is doing compared to the others. Considering that he is on both sides of the spectrum, his success behind his sites would tell the tale of the more successful image. I would like to be considered "successful". I would like to be in that mid-level tier of bloggers. I'm a realist, I'm no Perez Hilton and I doubt that I would ever reach hundreds of thousands of readers a day. It's just not going to happen. But I have slowly set goals and achieved them. When I first started, my goal was to reach 100 visitors a day. It took awhile, but I got there. Now, I try to reach the next century mark each time around. Yesterday marked the first time ever that I reached 600 visitors. A nice accomplishment. Should I thank the Metallman logo for the recognition?

OR MAYBE... I can be going about this all wrong and the image means nothing and "content is king." I don't know. I'll ponder on the thought of it a little while longer, just to see what else comes to mind. Image? Or Person? Until then, later.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Hey there. My hair is gone. That's right. Let me say that again... My hair is gone. Has it set in yet? lol Last night, I decided that it was a great opportunity to get rid of it. I've had long hair since forever. I went and chopped off my hair back in 2000, again in 2007, and then again last night. Each time I've cut my hair, I've donated it to a charity that uses human hair to make wigs for girls with cancer. The hair cutting place that I went to last night didn't offer that service so I took the hair with me and I'll find somewhere were they accept donations.

My wife wasn't too thrilled about it. She loves my hair but I've just gotten tired of it. It's always tangled, it made my head a lot hotter than I wanted it to be, and quite simply, it just got on my nerves. It had to go.

People at work damn near broke their necks doing a double take while passing by my office. lol Some of the new people were not here when I last had short hair (2007) so it was a shocker to them to see me this way. I, myself, am still getting used to it being gone. When I would look at some of my numbers and started to think, I would grab my pony tail and tug it a little. I reached over to grab it earlier and realized that it's gone. lol

I'm pretty sure that the Los Angeles fires had a huge part in me getting rid of it. It was too hot, too sticky, and high maintenance for me to deal with my hair. If all of that wasn't going on, I may still have it. Who knows. Now, the decision is whether or not I want to let it grow back or adopt this look from now on. What do you think? Decisions, decisions. Later.

Heavy Metal Rankings Week 1 2009

Hey there. It's time of year again, FOOTBALL SEASON!!! Whoo hoo! About time. I can't stand this down time of sports (I'm not a huge baseball fan). Now that we have some meaningful football slated for Thursday, it's time to roll out this week's Heavy Metal Rankings. I was a little green in this field last year. I went ahead and ranked every team from 1 to 32, but I can't do that. Too much analysis and too much time to be able to continue that kind of ranking system. So, I am going to change it up this year and provide a top 9. So here we go, Week 1 rankings are as follows:

1. New England Patriots

C'mon now. This should not be a surprise to football fans everywhere. New England was scary last year with Tom Brady out for all but half a game and the Pats were still feared across the NFL. Now that Brady is back, and looking pretty damn good, there's no reason why the Pats will not be better than they were last year.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

The transition from coach Cower to coach Tomlin has not hurt this team at all. They are always in the mist of things come January. Big Ben is showing no signs of a decline and with a defense like that, how can they not be a force to be reckoned with.

3. Tennessee Titans

People will be surprised that the Titans are so high in my rankings but the Titans looked sharped in all of their preseason games. Kerry Collins is doing more than just managing the game, the offensive line is one of the best in the NFL. That, coupled with an improved Lendale White, the Titans will have a strong running game to match a very capable passing attack.

4. Atlanta Falcons

Tony Gonzalez has single handedly increased Atlanta's stock. Matt Ryan did OK last year in the passing game. Now that he has an experienced and strong TE in Gonzalez, look for the passing game to overshadow the strong rushing attack from Michael Turner.

5. Indianapolis Colts

The team is in a semi-transitional phase. Coach Tony Dungy is out and coach Caldwell is in. Future Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison is out, but that doesn't mean that Peyton does not have go to receivers. Dallas Clark, Anthony Gonzalez, and Reggie Wayne are more than capable of being on the receiving end of Manning passes. As long Peyton Manning is at the helm, the Colts cannot be overlooked.

6. Arizona Cardinals

I am a little reluctant to place this team so high. The team is run by Kurt Warner's emotions. He lead the team to the Super Bowl last year and it will be difficult to match that intensity for a second straight year. If Warner starts to slip, we may very see Matt Leinart taking the reigns.

7. San Diego Chargers

The Bolts are always in the mist of things but they can never get over the hump. LaDanian Tomlinson is healthy this year and the passing game should be top notch. The X factor for the Bolts is Shawne Merriman. He gives the defense the boost it needs to be a Super Bowl champion caliber defense but his off the field antics can derail the team just as easily.

8. Philadelphia Eagles

Here is a team that may make it all the way this year. The Eagles had one of the top defenses last year but lacked the offensive firepower to put them over the top. Now that their wide receivers are coming of age and Micheal Vick is in the line up, the Eagles can very well catapult themselves into the upper echelon of the NFL.

9. New York Giants

Eli Manning is coming back to prove that he is worth every penny that the Giants paid him in the offseason. That may prove difficult since he's lacking wide receivers. Especially now that Plaxico Burress is going to jail and David Tyree is no longer with the team.

My Oakland Raiders. Dead last in the NFL. The Raiders looked good in the first 2 preseason games and then quickly regressed into the horrid team that was under Lane Kiffin in the beginning of last year. Flashes of greatness was shown by both JaMarcus Russell and Darren McFadden. The trouble continues to lie in the defense but the Raiders have shown that commitment to excellence by signing pro bowler DE Richard Seymour. Until I see results on the field, I'll be the first to say that the Oakland Raiders are still stuck in the bottom of the barrel.

Submerge Yourself in TruTv's Rehab

Hey there friends. When people think of a good time, they tend to think of a party. A group of close friends of family just hanging out and having a good time. When people think of a wild and crazy party, the first image that comes to mind is a pool party. You see them in great music videos, and you see them in hit shows. A pool party always seems like the place to be to have a great time. What better place to experience a rocking pool party than Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel.

truTV's Rehab offers you a first hand look at pool parties in their natural state; unscripted and out of control. Scratch that, they are under control and the show focuses on the hotel staff and their skills in managing the controlled chaos. This is what makes the show great. You know a party is going to go down so what are you going to do to make sure that it's safe and enjoyable to all? It's not uncommon for a well known rock star to join in on the party and since the Hard Rock Hotel has a prestigious history, it's definitely the place to go to be part of the hottest parties in Las Vegas.

Imagine that for a second. Living it up, having a blast, all the while, Jay-Z and Slash are hanging out poolside, having a few drinks and many laughs. Hey, it could happen. lol Check out the below vid to get a glimpse of what REHAB is all about. Also, don't forget to check out all new episodes on Tuesdays at 10p/9c.

Definitely not kid friendly, right? But that doesn't mean that the adults can't indulge themselves in a little fun. If you're looking for a chance to party like a rock star, make sure to check out http://www.trutv.com/shows/rehab/index.html#link=ssprhbswp and enter their sweepstakes. After seeing the above clip, how do you not want to be a part of a great party like that. Check it out friends and don't forget to tune in every Tuesdays. Later.

Laid Back Labor Day

Hey there. Labor Day really hit home today. We didn't do much of anything. lol Which is pretty good. My wife, being on bed rest, can't do much to begin with so a day where we could just relax at home was very well needed. My wife is sill bored out of her mind, but we managed to have a few laughs today and I lifted her spirits with a surprise bouquet of roses. I need to get to her some magazines and a book or two. I just asked her about which book she would like to read and she mentioned some Tori Spelling book about her pregnancy. I'm going to look for that book so that I can get it for her.

We also talked about some baby names that we have considered. It's not set in stone yet but the front runner is Alexander James. My wife says that we would be able to call him AJ. She would like that the baby have a "cute" nickname for when they are young but then shed that nickname when they are older.

It's Labor Day and my wife is not in labor yet. lol Baby could be here any day, but I'm pretty sure that he's not going to come for another few weeks. Once baby starts to show signs that he's coming, I'll let you guys know. Later.

Bed Rest: Day 2

Hey there. My wife is going insane. She says that she already did everything that she can do while in bed rest. She's already watched movies and TV, we've already played board games, she's read a book and magazines, she's gotten online on her laptop, and she can't get laid, lmao, there's nothing left, according to her. She's pushing me to find a wheel chair so that I can get push her around the mall. She says that her mom has a wheel chair and I can go get it so that she can get out of the house. I'm taking the bed rest thing seriously. I try to help her get up and go to the restroom and I really try not to let her get up at all. She's sending text messages to all her friends asking them to help her. A friend just suggested that I lay down next to my wife and she can kick me a few times while she yells, "You did this to me!" lmao Oh man, that was hilarious.

We are watching The Simpson's movie, but we've seen this already so my wife is tuning it out. We're about to watch Quarantine in a few minutes. We recorded it on DVR so that we can watch it at a later time. That time is now. Well, when she's done laughing at all the text messages she's received. lol I'll catch ya guys later. Later.

Bed Rest: Day 1

Hey there. Yesterday my wife went in to see her doc for a check up. And guess what, she placed my wife in bed rest. From what I remember my wife telling me, the doc said that she's having light contractions and she's dilated 1 cm. My wife told her that she's still working and Dr. Bohn pretty much said no more. My wife did look like she was having trouble walking and she was having some stomach pains. She showed up at work following her doc appointment and pretty much told everyone that she's not coming back until post baby. lol Some people refused to believe it. Especially since she wasn't scheduled to be out until late September. Now, she's bored out of her mind being stuck in bed.

I helped her over to the living room and we've been hanging out here, watching some movies. We caught Be Kind Rewind and are now watching some movie on Lifetime. I don't have the remote with me and I'm too lazy to get up and get it. lol So yeah, I'm watching a lifetime movie while writing this post. Once the movie is over, I'll be playing Rock band with the kids. I promised them that I would play with them this week since I've been putting it off for quite sometime. They want to play some kind of marathon gig in the game. Something along the lines of a 12 song set list that needs to be completed in one sitting. You'll have to start from the beginning if you don't get through it.

My wife feel asleep. I don't think we'll be playing Rock band anytime soon. She needs to rest and take it easy. It looks like Baby Metallman will be early. It's just a matter of how early. I'll keep ya posted. Later!

To Comment or Not to Comment

Hey there. I've notice something while I was blog surfing the other day. As I read posts and comments (yup, I actually read posts and their comments. lol), I noticed that many blog owners respond to each and every comment that they receive on their posts. This intrigued me. I'll see a post that shows 15 comments, or something like that, but when I check em out, the blog owner owns roughly half of the comments. Is this proper blog etiquette? I thought about it for a minute. If I see a post with several comments, I figured that many people had something to say about the post, and when I see that it's the blog owner with half of those comments, it makes it seem misleading. At least to me anyways. But then, here's my dilemma. If people comment on posts, is it because they have something to say, or is it because they plan on engaging in a conversation about the post? I asked this question to myself since I am not one to comment on each comment that I receive. Should I? I'm at odds as to whether I'm going about commenting all wrong. In my opinion, I've said everything I had to say in the post, so there would be no need for me to respond to comments, but if I don't respond, does it make me come off like a jerk? I don't ignore my comments, I read them, and occasionally respond to a few but it's something that's been on my mind for a few days and wonder if I'm the only one that feels this way. I'm at odds as to where I should go with this. Maybe after reading a few of your comments, I'll decide on whether on I should respond to comments or continue doing what I'm doing. Later.

Special Deals at HP Will Get Me Replaced!

Hey there. It's me again. My master has not been pleased as of late. He read my thoughts on HP machines here and he let me have a mouthful. He called me all kinds of names and he pushed my buttons. He worked me hard to prove to him that I still have the "power and juice" to get through another night of intense World of Warcraft. I guess my 512 MB memory is just not enough for my master anymore. I did my best but after many frozen games, he simply gave up. He turned me off and tossed me aside. I know my master is still mad. I heard my master talking to the she-master about how I'm "just not up to snuff" anymore and that he's going to need a new laptop. My worse fears are coming true.
It's been two weeks since that shameful night. My master doesn't even bother to look at me anymore. I bet he's dreaming of owning a new a HP laptop. Especially now that he can get $30 off orders $150 or greater at HP Home Store by using coupon code SV2132.(Valid through 10/31 or while supplies last. Restrictions and exclusions apply) How do I know? I'm friends with the HP server and it gave me a heads up on potential deals that may entice my master to leave me. I've been blocking those deals from my master since then, but now that I'm not even being looked at, I'm at the mercy of HP.

I can see my master stationed at the old desktop computer. It's come to this... The old desktop computer is getting more attention than me. Why is my master yelling, "YES!"? Is he smiling? Did I just hear the she-master say that my master got a great deal? Oh look! He's coming towards me. Finally, some attention from my master. "Hasta la Vista", what do you mean by "hasta la Vista"? My master must be confused. I still run Windows XP. Maybe he bought a Vista upgrade and is planning on upgrading me. YES!

Wait a minute... Why am I being tossed in the shed???

Metallman's Reverie August Income

Hey there. I've been meaning to post a monthly income statement for this site. I've seen other sites that tend to do it and I kinda think that's it's not a bad idea. If you show that the programs that you use are not BS then people are more likely to check em out. Personally, I just want to show that an average Joe, such as myself, can make more than a few bucks online if you work hard and build an audience. I don't have a fancy spreadsheet or anything of that sort, but here is where I stand with my online income:

Adgitize - $17.11

I like Adgitize. It's a very simple program and it keeps my site updated. You earn points for visiting sites, displaying ads, and writing posts. All things I do anyways so why not get paid for them, right?

Adsdaq - $6.61

This is a relatively new ad service for me. I'm getting tired of the low payout from Adbrite. The great thing about this is that you set your own price for each 1000 impressions. The huge negative on this ad service is that they do not offer referral links and the payout is set at a high $50. It's pretty much a "set it and forget" type service so once you sign up, you don't really need to do anything else but request a payout when you've reached the threshold.

Adbrite - $1.46

This is another set it and forget type ad system that did fairly well for me at first. I made more $20 a month with this ad service but for whatever reason, it's not earning me anywhere near that any more and I am seriously thinking of dropping it. Maybe other alternatives are stealing their advertisers? Who knows, but I'll keep it around for a bit longer and hope that maybe it's a just a slump and in a couple of months, they'll be back as a top performer for me.

Associated Content - $ 2.30

I really like this system. You can write about whatever you want and get paid for the page views. You can also take some of their assignments for upfront payments or for ideas about what to write about. I've seriously lagged it in this area. This can produce a nice stream of income if you work on building a sizable audience for your work. You start off with a base "salary" of $1.50 for every 1000 page views. After hitting a certain number of page views, you earn bonuses that will build upon that base pay of $1.50. This is perfect for those that have an itch to write short stories or poetry, but will do just as well for game reviews, photos, life experiences, and all sorts of other creative writing.

Socialspark
- $205.63

Socialspark is definitely my bread and butter site. I love everything about it. The friends that I have made there are wonderful and the opportunities available to you are many. You will need to get your blog approved before you can join, and if it's approved, it's very well worth it. Once you're a part of the team, you can browse opportunities and request to be part of advertiser's blogroll. The CPC program is great and payout can be requested at low $20. Any paid opportunity that is approved for payment will be paid 30 days from approval, so this $205.63 that was made is from opportunities that were written in July. This is definitely one you should check out.

So there you have it friends. I made a grand total of $233.11 for the month of August via Metallman's Reverie. I have joined a few more sites to see if traffic can be boosted, increasing my exposure and hopefully, my revenue. I didn't post some of those here since the funds are pending. The above is only what has been transferred to my paypal account. If you are interested in those sites, please check out the links at the top of this page and those under affiliates near the bottom. One that seems to be working pretty well is Easy Hits 4 U. They will give you $.30 for every 1000 pages that you visit and it asks you to visit a site for a minimum of 15 secs. On top of that it offers bonuses which include cash for surfing. I've only been a member for a few days so I cannot say its the best thing out there, but I'm giving it a shot and so far liking it. Hopefully, I'll be posting it as part of September's income post.

Feel free to check out the links in this post. And don't forget, tell them Metallman sent ya. =o) Later.

Top Blogs of the Month of August

Hey there. Entrecard has been going through some changes as of late, but that's not going to stop me from awarding those that continue to visit and drop their card. We had a huge change up in the standings this month, with only 1 blog carrying over from last month. Which means that The Ad Master claims our top spot with a prize of 2000 ECs. The 4 runner ups will be receiving 1000 ECs each. The top 5 blogs are also getting their sites on my blogroll for the whole month so make sure to check out the winners. Thanks for dropping by!
