The Case of the Missing Wedding Picture

Jack and Sally Kissing
Our wedding picture.  Well... not quite but pretty damn close!  lol
Hey there. Every weekend, for the past month or so, the wife and I have been working our butts off to make our house a home.  We've put up furniture, we've put up curtains, we've picked up couches, we've set up our kitchen, we cleared out our garage, we've set up our rooms, we even got ourselves a new TV.  But you know what... it still didn't feel like home.  Like my wife mentioned last weekend, it still feels like we're staying in a hotel.  Hmmm...  It sucks when your house doesn't feel like your home, but we realized why!  We had absolutely NO pictures up on the walls.  NONE.  We've spent so much time and energy setting everything else up that we didn't bother with the pictures.  Well, that's the project we handled last weekend!

Nespresso U is All You Need to Make Your Morning Coffee Special

Nespresso U Coffee Machine
I want the black one!
Hey there. The wife and I are huge coffee lovers. We will have coffee and off thorughout the week but our weekends are the best. We always pour ourselves a hot cup of coffee during the weekend mornings and talk and reconnect. It's a great ritual that we have and look forward to every week. The one thing that could make it better is the type of coffee we have. We usually have instant coffee but we've been wanting to get something to spice it up a bit. This is where a Nespresso U Coffee Machine would be awesome. Nespresso is known for its upscale, high quality coffee machines. But did you know that you can get a Nespresso machine for just under $150? I came across the Nespresso U Pure Black Coffee Machine and fell in love with it's design and was even more amazed with it's capabilities. The Nespresso U has a sleek, "U" shaped design and will fit in pretty much any kitchen - check out the features below!

Floyd Mayweather Makes Fight Entrance with... Justin Beiber?!

Wait... what?!?!
Hey there.  Like millions everywhere, I watched the Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez fight this weekend.  Although many expected Mayweather win the fight, you can't help but to watch to see if anyone out there can challenge him.  But before the fight even go under way, his introduction and entrance raised more than a few eyebrows.  Is that... Justin Beiber walking with Mayweather???  Really?  The Beibs?  HIM?!  What the...  It looks like I wasn't the only one that noticed.  Check out The Daily Rehash's reaction to the Justin Beiber escorting Mayweather to the ring.

Delta Corrente Toilet is the Perfect DIY Money Saving Toilet

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Delta Faucets. I received a product sample and promotional item as a thank you for participating.
My brand new Delta Corrente Toilet
Hey there.  I love working with my hands.  I love to take things apart, put them back together, build stuffs, examine things, etc. etc.  Whenever an opportunity arises where I can start a home project, I try to jump on it.  That's why when the good people at Dad Central and Delta came knocking with a DIY project, I just had to jump on it!  They provided me with a Delta Corrente Toilet!  Yeah!  I said a toilet!  lol  See, you don't know how important they are until it starts to act funny on you.  Let me explain.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at the Los Angeles Zoo Nintendo Event

Oh yeah!  I'm there for the event!!!
Hey there.  Last weekend was Memorial Day weekend and it was a time of remembrance.  Many of us spent the day out with our families and gave thanks to those brave men and women of the United States Military that gave everything they had to protect the freedoms that this great nation believes in. Many of us celebrated by enjoying that freedom by enjoying it with our families.  I spent Memorial Day weekend with my family as well.  But I also spent it with Nintendo.  How so?  Well, this Memorial Day weekend, the great people at Nintendo offered my family and I a press pass to enjoy the LA Zoo AND meet Donkey Kong!  How awesome is that?!

Hiking at the Turnbull Canyon Trail

Turnbull Canyon Map
A map of the trails available at Turnbull Canyon
Hey there. It's been awhile since the wife and I have gone on a hiking trip. We've been meaning to check out some of the awesome hiking spots here in Southern California but we just haven't found the time.  To be honest, I don't think we've gone for a hike since we last went hiking at Escondido Falls!  That has got to change!  :Last weekend, we decided to get up at 6:30 in the morning and take off to a trail.  Our destination?  The Turnbull Canyon Road Hiking Trails in Whittier, CA.

The World's Hottest Chicken Wings

How spicy can they be?  I mean, they are only made with
chile peppers with skull faces on them!
Hey there. This weekend, I took the family to the Los Angeles County Fair (I'll have a post on our trip real soon) and while there, I stumbled across the hottest chicken wings in the world.  Hmmm...  I know that many of these fairs boast some pretty outrageous claims, but you know what... I love chicken wings and when it comes to spicy food, I don't mind trying new things.  We first passed by the sign shortly after we arrived at the fair and as we enjoyed the fair, I mulled over whether or not I would like to take on that challenge.  As our day came close to an end, we walked by the sign once again.  As we were walking towards the parking lot, it was the wife that mentioned the chicken wings and whether or not I wanted to try them.  At that point, I knew I was going to dive in.  Here is my story told by pictures!

The Hero Rush in Los Angeles was Awesome

I'm ready!  Let's do this!
Hey there.  I was fortunate enough to be invited to participate in the Hero Rush on June 30th!  I didn't get a chance to write about it earlier since it so happened that my vacation started that very day.  But before I would relax and enjoy my time off, the Hero Rush made sure that I would have one last day of hard work before I can just take the remaining week off!  And man... did it make me work.  Let me tell you about my experience.

Getting to the Pomona Fairplex was a breeze.  No more than a 30 min car ride for the kids and I.  Because the youngest one was just getting used to using the big boy potty, we decided that it would be best for him to stay home with the wife so that she can help him if he needed to go to the bathroom.  The Fairplex is a huge place and I wanted to avoid a set back with his progress if he didn't make it to a bathroom.  Anyways, once I walked in and received my pick up packet, I headed over to the Midway.

The Color Run was Freakin' Awesome

Hey there.  So yesterday was our first ever 5K.  I've wrote about it a few times before and if you don't know what The Color Run is, shame on you!  lol  If you don't know, I forgive you this time.  The Color Run is a short 5K run where you get splattered with paint after every kilometer.  We were a group of 4, but the kids went with us as well.  We found out that our youngest was able to run for free so my wife made him a number and pinned it to his shirt.  The older kids didn't miss out, though.  They didn't get a chance to run the 5K, poor planning on my part, but they did get a chance to join us at the finish line and be a part of the massive coloring celebration!  Enough talking!  On to the pics!

Getting Ready for The Color Run 2012

Hey there.  So tomorrow is my first ever 5K run.  And what better run to do than The Color Run.  It's not a timed run, so there is no pressure to finish in the top whatever and it seems like it's a lot of fun.  Today, we had to travel to Laguna Hills (over an hour away) to pick up our pre race packets.  Turns out that you get an awesome The Color Run shirt, head band, a color run sticky tattoo, and a bag of powdered paint.  It looks like the wife and I are now ready to go.  I should have taken a pic of the stuff, but I forgot and to be honest with you, I'm too lazy to go out to the car and get them.  lol

Thoughts on... Paranormal Activity 3

Paranormal Activity 3 Movie Poster
Hey there.  We recently checked out Paranormal Activity 3.  The wife and I have seen the first two and I don't find them as frightening as my wife does.  I remember her being spooked to the point where we needed to sleep with a light on for awhile.  lol  When it comes to horror films, I usually watch them by myself unless I can convince her to watch them with me.  Needing a movie to check out, this was a great candidate for one to watch with the wife and kids.  Yup... the kids.  The film is rated R so you guys might want to check it out first before watching it with the preteens, but there really isn't anything going on but a lot of swear words.  Since this is the third part of the series and the wife already knows what to expect (eerie noises, quick movements, and blank stares at the camera) I wasn't too worried that the film would be a little too much for the family.  If you plan on seeing the film, don't read further.  SPOILERS AHEAD.  But if you've seen it and what to hear my take, read on.  Here are my thoughts on... Paranormal Activity 3.

Thoughts on... The Lorax

Hey there.  This weekend was the opening weekend of the film, The Lorax.  We haven't been to the theaters in awhile and I figured that it would be a great way to get out of heat (it was pretty hot in Southern California) and get into a nice air conditioned room and catch a movie.  Considering that 3D was only a dollar more per ticket, we went with the 3D version instead of the 2D version.  I'm still not sold on the whole 3D thing, but it does make movies a tad more interesting to watch.  After the popcorn was in the bucket, and the candy and nachos were passed out, we finally got to watching the film.  As with all of my "Thoughts on... posts, there are SPOILERS AHEAD.  If you plan on watching this film anytime soon, go check it out and then come back.  Here are my thoughts on...  The Lorax.

The 2012 NFL Wildcard Playoffs

Hey there.  Wow.  Did you see that?!  If you don't know what I am talking about, you must not have caught the NFL Playoffs this weekend.  We had some miraculous throws, hard hitting tackles, blow out wins, and some close games.  The game of the weekend was definitely the Denver Broncos vs the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The heavily favored Steelers were looking to roll past Tim Tebow and the Broncos.  Other games included the Lions were looking to stop the NFL record setter, Drew Brees and the Saints, there was a battle of rookie quarter backs going on between the Bengals and Texans, and the Giants were looking to show they belong in the playoffs in their game against the Falcons.  Let's get to the action!

Thoughts on... The Los Angeles Lakers Starting the 2011-2012 Season 0-2

Lakers star Kobe Bryant
Hey there.  The NBA is back!  After much anticipation, the season finally took off on Christmas Day.  Many of the top teams of the NBA were showcased to a national audience and while much rust was expected due to the lack of a preseason workout, there were still quite a few surprises during the first few games for many teams.  Even though I love to watch the NBA, I'm more concerned about the Lakers more than any other team.  Christmas Day saw the Lakers lose a close game to the Chicago Bulls and last night, they couldn't stop the Sacramento Kings from shooting 3 pointers.  Here are my thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers starting the season 0-2.

Review: The Palms Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Downey, CA

Hey there.  For those of you that know me well, you'll know that I love food.  I've been eating my fair share of meals since as far back as I can remember so when it dawned on me that I could be eating at different places and voicing my opinion on them, I just had to jump on it.  I mean why not?!  It's a great way to help local businesses and I get to share that experience with you.  So to start off my first of many restaurant reviews, here's my experience at The Palms Steak and Seafood Restaurant.  Hope you guys enjoy!

AM2 Convention: My Day with the Ani.me Guys

Hey there.  So I was fortunate enough to spend last Saturday at the AM2 Convention in Anaheim and got a chance to hang out with the guys running Ani.me!  How freakin' awesome is that?  I got to stand behind the booth and set up their photo booth and helped out with their much inquired scavenger hunt.  Mike, Chris, and Evan are an awesome group of guys and I definitely wouldn't mind working with them again.

AM2Con is This Weekend, July 1st - July 3rd

Hey there.  The Anime, Music, and Manga Convention is being hosted at the Anaheim Convention Center this weekend!  3 full days of nothing but put pre awesomeness.  If you guys are in the Los Angeles area this weekend, you should consider making the trip to Anaheim to check this out.  The convention is free to everyone but there are certain activities and shows that you will have to pay for.  Many of the exhibits, workshops, and events are free so there really isn't a reason why you wouldn't want to stop by.

Women That Rock Weekend

Hey there.  We need a night out.  The wife and I have semi-survived the first week of summer vacation and we already need to reward ourselves with a night on the town.  Before we can start planning what we should do, the comadre sends us this:

The Rise of American Soccer in the United States

Hey there. I love sports. I'm also Mexican American. So when both countries end up going against each other, who should I root for? It's a common dilemma for many Mexican Americans out there. My parents were born in Mexico and I in the US.  I'm a first gen American in our family.  You want to root for both countries. You want to go show pride and acknowledge your roots but you also want to show pride for the country of opportunity. Why the question? Soccer. Yup. Soccer. lol
