The Death of Entrecard

Hey there.  Today marks the day that Entrecard has died.  Well, at least to me it has.  It started off as a great tool, especially for a rookie such as myself, and it did wonders to my site.  It brought traffic, it brought readers, and it made me friends.  The downside of it all is that you had to devote quite a bit of time to drop your card on sites.  Now, this wouldn't be so bad until you realize that you can only drop 30o cards a day, minimizing the amount of credits that you can earn in a day.  Then it hits you, you need well over 1500 credits just to advertise on one of the popular sites.  That's almost a week's worth of credits to advertise on one site!  The time has come where I just don't have the time or the patience to continue with Entrecard.  I plan on leaving the widget on for a few more days.  I don't want to cheat out those that purchased ads.  Once those are done, Entrecard will be gone.

Entrecard, I thank you for the friends.  I thank you for the jump start.  But somewhere along the lines, you lost your way.  You promised cash outs, you introduced a market, and ultimately crashed down with paid ads.  My needs have changed and even though you've tried to accommodate some of them, it just isn't working out.  I'm sure they'll be others, I'm sure others still love you, but as for me, I just don't have the time.  Wish you the best of luck.  Later!

Blogs of the Month and Top Commentators of December

Hey there.   I know I'm a little late on announcing winners this month.  Things have been needing some fixing at home and I've been busy with that. Nevertheless, we have winners that need to be recognized!  3 blogs have dropped off this month allowing 3 new blogs to enter the blogroll.

Art Shout
Buy-Tees.net T Shirts
All Stace, All the Time
Laane on the World
The Way I See It

Thank you friends to continually check out my site and drop your card.  500 ECs have already been sent to you and you site is now on the blogroll.

Now, for our first set of Top Commentator winners.  It's been a great run and hope to continue this trend.  I planned on disclosing the number of comments that determined the winners but have decided that it would be a little more suspenseful if they were not disclosed.  So, without any more delay, here are our winners.

$5.00 Prize - Ann
$2.50 Prize - Silvergirl
$2.50 Prize - ZXT

Winners have 5 days to contact me with their PayPal address so that they can be paid.  If a winner does not contact me with a PayPal address, the prize will be forfeited.

Thank you for all the support.  Keep visiting, keep dropping, and keep the comments coming.  Who knows, maybe you'll come out with a cash prize just for speaking your mind.  Later!

Top Blogs of the Month of November

Hey there.  It's that time of the month again.  It's time to give my top 5 droppers the recognition that they deserve.  The following blogs have received a month long spot on my blogroll and have also earned themselves 500 ECs:

http://annssnapeditscrap.blogspot.com/
http://asthecrackerheadcrumbles.blogspot.com/
http://www.laaneworld.com/
http://vanillaseven.com/
http://www.buckrobin.com/

Thanks to all of you that have dropped on my blog this month.  I greatly appreciate all your support.

Now, on to some important news.  I've been rewarding my top droppers for several months now and have been contemplating on how I can reward my commentators as well.  This is what I have come up with...  Starting Dec. 1st, I will keep tabs on all comments made for the month.  At the end of the month, I will award the top commentator a cash prize, to be delivered via PayPal (Must have a valid PayPal account).  This will allow ALL readers to participate and not feel slighted if they are not part of the Entrecard family.  I have yet to decide what the cash prize will be, but I am leaning towards starting small (anywhere from $2.50 to $5.00 to start) and if this catches on, the cash prize will continue to be awarded monthly and may be increased and expanded to reward not only the top commentator but maybe the top 5 as well.  Comments must be revelant and I will delete spam comments.  I will also post a screen shot of my excel sheet since my widget goes back to the top 500 comments and I do not know how to reset it every month.  The first winner will be announced next month along side my top 5 droppers of the month.  Good luck friends... And don't forget to comment!  Later!

Top Blogs of the Month of October

Hey there. Not much of a shake up in my top droppers for the month. Ann's Snap Edit Scrap takes the top spot in both drops and comments. I'm awarding her 500 ECs for being a part of this month's winners and another 500 ECs for being the top commenter for the month. Thanks for dropping and thanks for being an integral part of Metallman's Reverie! Later!

Giving Back Some Website Love with E-Referrer

Hey there. I just added a new feature on this blog, A Top 10 Website Referrer list. I have tried my best to give back to those that comment and visit Metallman's Reverie. I added a top commentary list to rewards those that leave comments on this site. Now, with this new list, I'll be able to provide a link to those sites that bring in traffic.

I just added it today and I can filter out certain websites, if I chose to. I'm leaning towards just leaving blogs on there... that would eliminate Entrecard and Adgitize (and others) as referrals, but I'm not sure if that is fair. I'll let it run the way it is for a good week or two and then decide as to how I will tweak the widget. If you guys want to have your own, check it out E-Referrer. It's free to sign up and use and it's definitely a nice little perk to be able to provide a link to those sites that provide traffic to your blogs. Later!

Top Blogs of the Month of September

Hey there. I'm a little late on announcing my top droppers for the month. Because of the new rules in regards to Entrecard credits, I cannot offer as much as I could the previous times. I'm cutting it down to 500 ECs and a month on my blogroll. Many thanks to my top droppers and I appreciate the fact that you stopped by to check out my blog. Many thanks!

Entrecard No More, At Least for Metallman

Hey there. I've decided. I will no longer be an active participant in Entrecard. At least not full time as before. There have been too many changes to their system that I have been put off by all the system issues and their down time. If you miss a day of dropping, it significantly drops your ranking and now that you're limited to 300 EC a day, it makes it tough to be able to advertise and provide incentives for readers to drop on your page. I would spend over an hour on Entrecard alone. Dropping and purchasing ads. Checking out the market place and making sure I fulfill my orders, but considering what went down the last couple of months, I just don't find it worth it any more. I'm going to leave the widget on my site. This will still bring in credits from those that advertise on my site, but I my dropping will cease and my market place ads will be discontinued.

I've tried to gut it out, but it's just not happening. Maybe sometime in the future, when they get their act together, I'll revisit the site and be a participating member again, but until then, count me out. Later.

Top Blogs of the Month of August

Hey there. Entrecard has been going through some changes as of late, but that's not going to stop me from awarding those that continue to visit and drop their card. We had a huge change up in the standings this month, with only 1 blog carrying over from last month. Which means that The Ad Master claims our top spot with a prize of 2000 ECs. The 4 runner ups will be receiving 1000 ECs each. The top 5 blogs are also getting their sites on my blogroll for the whole month so make sure to check out the winners. Thanks for dropping by!

Blogs of the Month of July

Hey there. I missed on showing recognition to my top droppers last month. I completely forgot about it. Not this time! Here are my top droppers for the month of July.

Nevermind... Stupid Entrecard will not let me see my statistics... How am I supposed to know who are my top droppers... Ugh..

Once I can log on, I'll post them up, but I can't believe that I can't see them now. Later.

UPDATE: Several hours later....

Looks like I can log on now. Here are my top 5 for the month!

Lisgold
Your Fun Family
DedeAndro
AddYours
The Ad Master

Check out their sites! They have now been added to my blogroll for the month of September. Also, Lisgold gets the top spot winning 1000 ECs. The runners up each get 500. Thanks for your support! Keep on reading and keep on dropping. Next time, it could be your site on my blogroll. Later!

The Death of Entrecard?

Hey there. I'm sure that all Entrecard members know by now that Entrecard has been sold to Ziprunner Inc. I have no idea what or who Ziprunner Inc is but can we assume that this is the death of Entrecard? Or the beginning of something spectacular? I have mix feelings about this. Mainly because it has to do with change... And Entrecard has been full of changes these past few months. Paid ads... no paid ads... cashouts... market... dropping algorithm... I put up with it but now I'm not so sure I want to put up with ANOTHER change in Entrecard. I just don't know how I feel about this and I'm sure many other members are feeling the same. Later.

Top Blogs of the Month of May

Hey there. Looks like we have our top 5 for the month. A complete shake up with only one blog carrying over from last month. Lisgold takes the top spot this month, with another 4 with 31 drops to match her. Lisgold gets the top spot by default, since the blog is the only carry over from last month. 1000 credits to you and 500 for blogs 2-5.

I'm also making a change this month. I'm going to leave the top 5 in my blog roll for the whole month. They being the only blogs on my blogroll. I'm also trying to think of a way to not only reward my Entrecard readers, but readers from all over. I'm thinking of a cash but am not sure how to keep track. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, friends, for your continued support of Metallman's Reverie.

New Member of Adgitize

Adgitize your web site.
Hey there. As most of you know, I've been dropped by Project Wonderful a few weeks back and have been looking for a new ad type platform. I haven't really been looking around but I did stumble across a very convenient source of online income. I am now the latest member of the Adgitize network.

From what I've read and the way it works, I think it's great! I never really noticed it but it seems that many Entrecard members are already a part of the Adgitize network so it's extremely convenient to "drop and click". Similar to Entrecard, you gain points by clicking on the ads (that's a first!) of Adgitize members. Most Entrecard members, such as myself, have placed an ad right next to the Entrecard widget to make it easy to Drop and Click (I should trademark that sucker!). Each click gains you a point. Points are then converted to cash at the end of the month. No waiting for approvals, transferring to a cash out account or anything like that. And clicking on ads is not the only way to get points. Each page view that your web site generates is converted to points. Each time one of the Adgitize ads is displayed generates is converted to points. If you have more than one ad block displays, the ad and page view points multiply by the number of ad blocks you display. Being an advertiser generates an automatic 100 points a day (more on that in a bit). Posting articles generates a cool 100 points a day. And by articles, it means posting, period. So if you're an active blog writer, this is basically getting paid to do what you do anyways. So there are many ways that points can be generated.

So what is the conversion to cash? That depends on how active advertisers are and how many points are awarded but just to give you a general idea, here is the May 2009 conversion table.

Score less than 100 points in a day and you will earn 1 cent a day.
Score 100 to 199 points in a day and you will earn 2 or 3 cents a day.
Score 200 to 299 points in a day and you will earn 15 cents to 25 cents a day.
Score 300 or more points in a day and you will earn 76 cents to $1 dollar a day.

Again, those numbers are not written in stone so don't quote me on that but it gives you a general idea of how many points you will need to earn some cash. Looking at the table above, 200 points is very doable but you definitely want to score 300 points a day.

That sounds great, Metallman, but what about the advertising that you mentioned? Glad you ask. lol Adgitize cannot pay it's members if it does not generate any revenue. So advertising is a cool $14 a month (other options are available) and your ad is guaranteed to be shown on all sites that have the widget installed on their web page to the tune of at least once every 100 page views. So if 'X' site has 100 views a day, your ad will appear at least once on their site. Considering that there are thousands of sites in the network, you will definitely get your money's worth. And if you hit the 300 point mark daily, the ad will pay for itself each month. All while bringing you traffic and readers. Sign up is free and you do not have to advertise. You can gain points by other means but being given 100 points a day for being an advertiser is not a bad deal at all.

I haven't seen any complaints from anyone in regards to this. Paying to display your ad seems to be one "nuisance" that surfaces, but considering that you can pay $10 for a month long ad on any given website, you might as well ad the $4 and display your ads to thousands more. I'm quite thrilled about trying this out. Hopefully, it will bring in quality traffic as well as some online income. I'll keep you posted with how much it brings in after the first or second month. Check it out, friends. Later!

Adgitize your web site.

Blogs of the Month of April

Hey there. Major shake up in the top five this month. None of the blogs from last month carried over to this month so there's 5 new blogs to check out. Top spot when to my friends over at Septagon Studios, earning them the top prize. ECs were given out as follows:

Top Spot = 1000 Ecs

Other 4 spots = 500 Ecs

Thanks to all that stopped by, read, and dropped. I greatly appreciate the time you took to stop by and see what's going on here. Until next month, later!

2 Day Hiatus

Hey there. Sorry to my Entrecard friends. I have not dropped on any of them for about 2 days now. I'm not planning on severing myself from the service, it's just that I've been feeling pretty damn tired and have been pretty damn lazy to do it. I tend to get to my blog reading (and dropping) at approx. 10PM. Because of that, I usually don't go to bed till close to midnight. It's not all the web's fault, Family Guy is on at 11PM and I'll find myself watching it while online. I pretty much consider this "my online work" because, let's face it friends, dropping and reading can be a time consuming and tedious task.

Last night, I got to thinking of my online work and was about to get started on it, until I flipped the channel and started watching this one movie called Shooter. I don't know what it is with me and snipers but I thought the movie was pretty bad ass. Nowhere near as good as Enemy at the Gates (one of the most bad ass sniper movies EVER) but nevertheless, a good flick. Then I noticed that our cat was outside and I had out there and get him. I spent a good 15 mins out in the cold trying to get our cat out of the neighbors yard. I wouldn't doubt it if that's why I'm feeling like crap today. I felt hot as hell this morning and I started coughing up all kinds of crap... I came in to work though, figuring it would calm down some... It has, but still, I'm not up to snuff right now.

At least we're getting Thursday and Friday off. The kids are on spring break this week and we weren't able to get the whole week off, like we usually do, so we had to settle for 2 days. It would suck if we spent those 2 days sick... Later!

Is Entrecard Consulting Satan?

Hey there. It's the middle of the day, and I'm checking my stats, referrals, and what not for Metallman's Reverie. As I'm checking out my referrals, I came across an interesting number... According to Project Wonderful, I have 666 referrals from Entrecard!!!! Dun! Dun! Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnn! I got my eye on you, Entrecard. Is this whole "Ad Network" business Satan talk? lol Later!

Blogs of the Month of February

Hey there. It's that time of the month again... No, not THAT... It's time to update my blogs of the month section. Septagon Studios has a kung fu grip on my top spot, continuing their reign as the top dog. Blazing Minds and Mr. Soleh's Outburst stayed strong to stay in the top, meaning that 2 friends dropped off giving way to two blogs making their first appearance in my top 5. Here's how my top ten came down.

Thank you all for stopping by, commenting, and dropping. 1000 ECs go to the top spot and 500 ECs for the following 4. Later!

Entrecard Experiment is Over

Hey there. I decided a week or so ago, that I would stop using Entrecard for a week. Not because I think the service sucks, or anything of that sort, but because I was curious as to why so many of it's members were leaving. Is there really a benefit for those that simply walk away? I've had a steady stream of traffic (in the vicinity of 250-400 page views a day) since I've joined Entrecard, that I was happy about. I know I'm not a super popular guy and I don't expect 1000's of hits a day but a couple of hundred page views and some committed friends is a satisfactory result. With that being said, my traffic took a huge nose dive during the time off from Entrecard. Somewhere around a 67% drop. It dropped faster than the US economy.

A very humbling experience. I don't see how someone can walk away from a community that not only brings in traffic to your site but also creates friendships. I thank you, friends, that continued to visit and drop this week, even though I did not reciprocate. I made no mention of my experiment cause I didn't want to influence my readers, or lack there of, and I would call it a success, even though I am not ecstatic of the results. I'm back on Entrecard and I'll start my blog surfing. Thanks again, friends. Later!

Blogs of the Month for January

Hey there friends. Septagon Studios continues it's run as my top blog of the month. Three of the 5 blogs have dropped off with Blazing Minds bumping up to number two. Here is the list of the top 10, with the top five getting their image and link a spot under my Blogs of the Month section.

I had 4 blogs tied for the 5th and last spot. Considering my tie breaker (comments) that 5th spot goes out to Sir Robbie Rob. Comments count! That could be the difference from a month long link and not. lol Congats to the winners and thanks for continuing to support my site. Credits are on their way, friends. Thanks!

Top Blog = 1000ECs
Other 4 blogs = 500ECs

Blogs of the Month for December

Hey there. I'm a little late on announcing the winners this month. Sorry about that. Nevertheless, here we go.

Big changes in this month's listing. For several months, Picture to People held the top spot but was finally dethroned by Septagon Studios Inc. Congrats to our new top blog. Please feel free to check out the new top blog listing. 500 ECs to all the winners. Many thanks friends. Later!
