Petition to Remove The Kardashians From Your TV

I don't think this pose is kid friendly, Kim.
Hey there.  I have quite a bit of disdain for the Kardashian clan.  I just feel as if they are known to the world because of a sex tape.  Kim started the movement, then her family jumped on her coattails and now I see them as a fake family on TV that claims to be real.  I simply don't buy it and I don't like it.  I don't buy into the Kardashian brand but the sad part is that many people do.  Actually... millions do.  Whether it be one of the many Kim K products or Kloe's fragrance with Lamar Odom (Oh Lamar... what have you done...), I just don't see how the mainstream media accepts these people.  And it's happening more and more.  With "hit" shows like The Jersey Shore, 16 and pregnant, and countless other "reality" shows, no name people are making it big because they are portrayed as idiots or because we are waiting for a train wreck to happen.  Don't get me wrong, I like a good wreck here and there, but what happened to the days where talented people filled our air ways?  The days of acting and game shows?  I don't want to see the day to day lives of "celebrities".  If anything, make it a TV special, not a TV series.  I believe that it's time to take our TV back!  And it seems that I'm not the only one that believes this since there is now a petition out there that you can sign to help remove the Kardashian clan from our television sets!

Thoughts on... The Duggars Expecting Their 20th Child

Congrats???
Hey there.  Many years ago, the world was introduced to the Duggar family.  TLC first brought them to the limelight with their spectacular show, 16 and Counting (I think...).  Since then, the Duggars have welcomed a few more additions to their family and have even welcomed a grandchild.  All showcased on TLC for the world to hear.  Today, the Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar appeared on NBC's Today Show and announced that they are now expecting their 20th child.  WOW!!!

The Walking Dead on AMC is Not Your Typical Zombie Show

Hey there.  Last year, a great show aired on AMC and guess what...  I missed it.  Of course I did, I mean, who wants to hear about another zombie show/movie?  I'll admit that even though I love the genre, it seemed so saturated at the time that I didn't pay it any mind.  And considering that AMC picked up the show for only a 6 season episode makes me believe that AMC must have thought the same thing.  Boy was I wrong!  The Walking Dead has been a great success for AMC and the second season is just underway and now I hear that they have picked it up for another full season!

Metallman: The Committed Blogger

Hey there.  I'm ready to declare myself back!  I have been MIA for the last couple of weeks and I have been doing some on and off blog work while I was off but I am on step 1 of getting back into blogging form!  It's been a rough, few weeks and I think that the rough patch is now in the rear view mirror and I'm ready to devote more time to my blog and other commitments that I have made online.  I've slowly been inching my way back into Twitter and Facebook and now I'm ready to continue with my daily posts.  I've been a while since I've done a personal post and I have a few lined up.  I have my son's B day post, my wife's b day post, my dad's B day post, and several others that I have started and hope to have up in the coming days but first I want to discuss getting back into writing form.

Kim Kardashian Vs Old Navy

Youtube/Getty Images
Hey there.  Last night, I was a family get together when current events were brought up and a discussion in regards to Kim Kardashian and Old Navy was heating up.  It turns out that Kim Kardashian is suing Old Navy for $20 Million for using a woman with her likeness in their commercials.  Wow... really?!?  I remember seeing the so called Kim look a like (Melissa Molinaro) commercial and never once did it occur to me that she looked like Kim Kardashian.  As a matter of fact, I don't think Melissa looks anything like Kim.  I just thought to myself that the song was stupid, it was a little on the annoying side, and that the woman was trying to hard to be "cute".  If Kim believes that this shallow display of a character is her likeness, I will be floored.  Kim is not a celebrity (in my eyes, at least) and she doesn't have any talent.  The only reason anyone knows who this woman is is because of that "leaked" sex tape with Ray J and I think it's terrible that a woman with no talent is not humble enough to say, hey, I'm fortunate with the success that I do have, I don't need to make an ass of myself.

E! is the Best

This guest post from Edgardo Rosa

Does anyone else out there totally love E! True Hollywood Stories? That network doesn’t have a ton of programming that I’m too keen on but those Hollywood Stories are so informational and it’s almost like I’m watching a documentary. I got http://Expertsatellite.com satellite last year and found them then and I’ve been watching pretty much every time a new one comes out ever since. I saw the one on Demi Moore the other day and it totally changes my perspective on her as an actress! I just like how they show clips from old interviews and talk to the friends and family of the celebrity and I almost always learn a few things about them that I had no idea before which helps me sympathize a lot more than I tend to. It’s nice to know stars are human too and although I don’t like spending a lot of time in front of the TV, I don’t mind getting a little bit of pop culture knowledge with my E! Hollywood Stories.

Casey Anthony Found Not Guilty: America Weeps

What?  My daughter's dead. Noooooooooo... I didn't do it.
Hey there.  I'll admit that I haven't been as captivated by this case as much as I should have been.  As a matter of fact, I first heard about the case from my wife, when she decided to purchase a magazine with Casey on the cover.  I naturally asked her who's that and she explained the case to me.  I then asked if she was famous since she was on the magazine, she said no.  With that right there... I should have known that this was big.  Since then, I started asking my wife to fill me in on the court proceedings, since my wife has the luxury to watch it at home.  Night after night, the evidence compiled against Casey made it seem like she was going to be found guilty for murdering her daughter.  I was curious to see if they would give her the death penalty and even the "experts" on TV were saying that anything but the death sentence would be a victory for Casey.  The "experts" were saying she was as good as guilty.  Then... the American Justice system did what it does best.  It set this child murdering woman free.  That's right, the jury found Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY!

David Levi - From Soccer Player to Poker Star

Hey there.  You know, poker has grown into a serious sport these last couple of years.  Is it fair it call it a sport?  I guess, right?  Anyways, I've been watching my fair share of poker on TV, especially the World Poker Tour Championship. It churns out some real intense moments at times and even though you'll find the poker greats all over the tables, you'll spot a celebrity or sports figure as well.  One that has started to make a move is David Levi.

The Rise of American Soccer in the United States

Hey there. I love sports. I'm also Mexican American. So when both countries end up going against each other, who should I root for? It's a common dilemma for many Mexican Americans out there. My parents were born in Mexico and I in the US.  I'm a first gen American in our family.  You want to root for both countries. You want to go show pride and acknowledge your roots but you also want to show pride for the country of opportunity. Why the question? Soccer. Yup. Soccer. lol

Jackass Star, Ryan Dunn, Dead at 34

Hey there.  News broke out this morning that Jackass star, Ryan Dunn, was killed in an early morning car accident.  Many didn't believe it.  Especially in this digital world where anything said via Twitter or Facebook can spread like the plague.  False stories of celbrity deaths seem to be the norm nowadays.  Unfortunately, that was not the case with Ryan Dunn.  It's been confirmed and there are pictures floating around the web.

Great Father's Day Gift Ideas at Walmart

Hey there.  Father's Day is near!  What have you picked up for your pops?  Nothing?  Oh man... No worries, I'm about to show you some pretty awesome stuff that you can pick up at your local Walmart for your dad!  But before getting into that, let me tell you of a time before iPad 2's and Blackberry tablets.  I'm talking about the 80's where a VCR was the main tech attraction.  You see, I was born in 1982 and I only had my dad for 9 short years before it was time for him to move on from this life.  I didn't get the chance to shower him with some of the awesome technology we have today.  Most of my gifts for dad included hand drawn cards and pasta encrusted creations.  Sincere, loving, and always from the heart.  It would have been cool to grab my dad a GPS navigator (we got lost a few times... I know that for a fact) or an awesome big screen TV for the big fight or game.  Even though he's no longer here, this Father's Day, I will be getting my pops a gift, it just won't be of the tech variety.  And kids... I know you're reading this.  Use this post as the "Unofficial Daddy's Wishlist".  lol

PSN Attacked Again! (05.18.11 Post Update)

Hey there. The Playstation network has been attacked again!  This morning, once everyone was beginning to feel all warm and cozy over the mass Emailing that Sony sent out to their customers, the hackers got to work and infiltrated the "new and secure" PSN.  Now, the service is down while Sony works on fixing it.

Marlins Fan Drops Daughter for Foul Ball... and Drops That Too

Hey there.  Wow...  have you guys heard about this?  A dad, at a Florida Marlin's baseball game, dropped his daughter in an attempt to catch a foul ball.  Wow...  The dad is saying that his daughter is ok but that's besides the point.  It makes me feel as if this man would protect himself over protecting his daughter.  If I were to see a projectile coming towards me, such as a baseball, I think I would have turned around, having the ball bounce off my back, while protecting my young one.  That's fatherly instincts... I don't know about this whole dropping the kid to free your hands for yourself.  If I was the wife/GF here...  I don't think I'd allow that guy to hold my kid.  lmao  What do you think? Check out the vid.

Pop Up Video Returns This Fall on VH1

Hey there.  Remember back in the days when music channels actually played music videos?  lol  I'll admit that I find myself more and more distant from today's up and coming music artists than I did over a decade ago.  Top 10 vidoe shows actually played the full video.  Now a days, top 10 video shows has a 10 second clip of the video and then 5 minutes of an interview or the host doing something stupid.  I just can't watch it anymore, so I don't.  But something that I do watch, whenever I stumble across it, is VH1's Pop Up Video show.  Do you remember that?  They actually played the video, from beginning to end, and they would "pop up" little factoids about the artist or song.  I thought it was extremely entertaining.  Especially for someone like me who goes and checks out the trivia section on IMDB as soon as I'm done watching a movie.  lol  I'm just quirkly like that.

A First Look at ABC's New Show: Once Upon A Time

Hey there friends.  I'll admit that I haven't had much interest in watching TV.  It's been over a year now since one of my favorite shows has gone off the air and there just hasn't been anything on to fill the void that Lost has left.  There have been some comedies that come and go, some dramas that have fizzled, and there is nothing mysterious that has me amazed.  It seems that I'm just in need of a new show.  Well, it looks that I may have found it.  ABC has recently announced that Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (the awesome wirting duo that brought us Lost and Tron: Legacy) are at it again with their new show Once Upon a Time.  Check out the trailer!

The Office' Is My Favorite TV Sitcom

Posted by Hyman Weeks

Over the past few years, sitcoms have enjoyed a nice resurgence on television. Today, most sitcoms have abandoned the canned laughter. That has worked well. As a result, we have a series of great sitcoms to choose from. My personal favorite is 'The Office.' I watch new episodes and reruns on my satellite TV from www.bestchoicetv.com whenever I get a chance.

Being Smart About Credit Cards

Hey there. If you have a TV or a radio then you've heard many commercials to help build or repair your credit. Many of us have struggled with credit card debt. Especially when many of us were forced to use credit cards during the recession.  I'm not saying that we shouldn't use them, I'm just saying that we should be a little more smart about it.

One great way to know whether or not a credit card is a good one is to check out some credit card reviews.  This is an effective way to read up and get comfortable with the credit card.  Are consumers happy with the service?  Are the rates too high?  No grace periods?  Low balance?  Reward points?  You can get all of that answered by reading a few reviews and see if consumers are happy.  Happy customers usually means that it's a fair card.

Another thing you can do is check out the finance boards.  This is most effective when you do not have a particular card in mind.  The finance boards can have a wide range of topics and it can be overwhelming at first, but after reading a few topics, you'll be able to narrow your search and find what you're looking for.  Especially when many customers can pitch in and provide their 2 cents on a credit card that they own.

Chase credit cards, Citi credit cards, any credit cards.  If you do a little homework before you apply, you are more than likely to know whether or not you really can afford to have a credit card.  Interest rates, grace periods, and whether or not they have reward points may play a factor in your decision but always remember that in the end, the debt will need to be paid and all the points in the world cannot pay it off.  Stay smart and good luck!  Later!
