Features Your Site Should Include

The world of online business is more competitive now than it has ever been in the past. This means that you need to pull out all of the stops in an attempt to make your site more appealing than those of your competitors. There are plenty of features that are available for sites to have these days. Not all of these features are necessary for you to run an effective online business. It is up to you to determine which of these features will be most in demand by the people who will be using your site on a regular basis. You will then need to take the necessary steps to have these features installed on your site in a professional manner. Here are some examples of some features that you might want to consider using on your own site.

Metallman's Reverie YouTube Channel

Hey there.  I just wanted to have a quick post announcing our YouTube Channel!  I didn't want to bring it up until I had at least a few videos to check out.  The channel has gone live for a little over a month now (maybe 2) and I just uploaded my 4th video review last night.  I plan on having more of them on a consistent basis so make sure you stop by frequently to check it out!  I'm still new to YouTube and am not really sure how to best utilize it so if you have any feedback or suggestions, I greatly appreciate it!  So here's a playlist of my videos so far!  Enjoy!

Weird Al's Tacky Music Video

Weird Al Yankovic Mandatory Fun
Hey there.  I've been a fan of Weird Al Yankovic since forever.  Aside from creating original music, Weird Al's claim to fame has been his own unique style of parody.  After 30 years of doing his thing, he finally hit the top of the charts with his latest album, Mandatory Fun.  That's right, friends.  Weird Al has the #1 album on the Billboard Top 200!  CONGRATS, AL!  And to celebrate, this week's Funny Friday will feature one of the many videos released to promote Mandatory Fun.  Here is Tacky, a parody of the hit song Happy.  ENJOY!  Later!

Still Using Incandescent Light bulbs? Let Sylvania Light the Way!

Sylvania Compact Fluorescent Bulbs
Light weight, lasts longer, AND saves you money on energy!
Hey there.  Are you still using incandescent light bulbs?  I used to.  I changed out my light bulbs not too long ago with the more energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs.  But what I didn't know is that there are more choices other than that.  Did you know that there are LED bulbs as well?  I sure didn't.  And I'm not the only one.  The below video is a short video about a set of parents that are about to get schooled by their daughter.  Check it out.

Chucky Terrorizes at a Bus Stop

Hey there.  When I was a kid, I was terrified of Chucky.  Maybe because it was one of the first times I saw a small doll actually move on it's own on the big screen killing people.  Keep in mind that Chucky first appeared in film back in 1988.  Fast forward 25 years later and Chucky is still making films.  His latest being Curse of Chucky, released sometime in 2013.  You know, the Child's Play franchise when from scary, to humor, to eye rolling dumb, but with Curse of Chucky, it looks like it's coming full circle and going for that "scary' vibe again.  How do I figure?  Just check out this freakin' awesome video of Chucky doing his thing to unsuspecting people at a bus stop!

Amazon Introduces the Kindle Fire HDX

The new Kindle Fire HDX starting at $229!
Hey there.  I currently own a Kindle Fire HD.  I love the damn thing.  It's constantly being used at home.  Either by my wife, the kids, or myself.  Someone always wants to use it.  And why not?  It's great for web browsing, videos look awesome, and because it's powered by Android, you get a whole slew of apps to browse through.  I really thought that the Kindle Fire HD would be the tablet to take over the tablet market... but now, a new tablet has been announced.  It's faster, lasts longer, and it's has an even better display.  And no... it's not from Apple or Samsung or ASUS or Google... it's from Amazon themselves.  They've improved the Kindle Fire HD and have created the Kindle Fire HDX!

Bring Awareness to Hepatitis with the Three Unwise Monkeys Campaign

Hey there. I have a cousin does awesome work at a local clinic.  One of her main functions is to drive awareness to dangers of unprotected sex.  She's constantly reminding the community of free HIV testing and she has participated in seminars in schools to make our youth aware of the disease.  Now, HIV and AIDS may be the sickness that gets headlines, but did you know that hepatitis is just as lethal?  A study by The Global Burden Disease showed that viral hepatitis was responsible for just as many deaths as HIV and AIDS.  That's a pretty big eye opener, no?  So I'm going to follow in my little cousin's footsteps and help bring awareness to the community.  Here are some details about hepatitis:

Happy Valentine's Day, My Love

Hey there.  In years past, I've written a small something for my wife on my blog.  This time around, I decided to try something different.  I've been wanting to do video posts and this may be the one to jump start that idea.  Babe... this is for you.  =o*

Introducing Blue Shield of CA Dynamic Duo: Dr. Jim and Bob

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of © Blue Shield of California for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Photobucket
Hey there.  What ails you?  Nothing?  Something inside me tells me that's a lie.  lol  But I'm sure that you are just like myself and many other people that are computer savvy, we'll look up our symptoms online and make a determination as to whether or not we'll make a doctor's visit.  More often than not, the doctor's visit never materializes.  I'll admit, if it doesn't hurt, I don't make that appointment.  I know... I know... It's a bad habit and just because my body doesn't hurt doesn't mean that there isn't something wrong.  I can pose my problem online and hope for the best, but really, that's not the absolute best thing to do.  That is, unless, Dr. Jim and Bob answer my question!

Nintendohemian Rhapsody

Hey there. I love me a good NES title. Why? Well because they are fun and challenging!  There was no internet to tell us what to do, there was rarely a strategy guide in sight, and if you died after using all of your continues, that was it.  Game over.  Start from the beginning... AGAIN!  Nevertheless, I loved them.  The video below expresses my sentiment EXACTLY!  Take a listen.  If you are a NES fan, you're going to love this!  Later!

I Think it's Time to Start a Podcast

Hmmm...  What should we do next?
Hey there. I think it's time to evolve. Like Pokemon, I am ready to grow and evolve as a blogger.  Yes, I used a Pokemon reference.  lol  Anyways, come March, Metallman's Reverie will be 5 years old.  5!  Last night, I took part in a podcast for the very first time.  And you know what... it was freakin' awesome! I have contemplated doing something like that before but now, having that first taste of being with a group and conversing over topics, I now know that I definitely want to do a podcast.  I have more than a few ideas that I have already come up with and I'm with talks with friends and family about which idea would be most likely come to fruition.

I want to change it up for you guys and I also would love your opinions.  Not only do I plan on getting a podcast going, I also plan on integrating video posts.  Maybe a retro game review?  A quick video on this week's game releases?  Maybe have some kind of Q&A?  Interviews perhaps?  I would like your input friends!  Comment below and let's see what we can come up with!  Later!

Potty Training with Pull Ups

Hey there.  I am officially ready to declare my 2 year old boy potty trained!  YES!  No more dirty diapers but that has been replaced by many, and I do mean many, trips to my son's potty.  For those of you that haven't had the experience of potty training a child, let me tell you... it's not an easy task.  It can be very frustrating, messy, and may sometimes feel down right impossible.  But don't worry!  From my experience, it's all about the right technique to help your child learn to use the potty.  But before you embark on this incredible task with your child, you need to make sure you are well prepared.  A kid's potty, dependable Pull Ups, plenty of baby wipes, and a lot of patience will go a long way to making sure your child becomes successful!

The Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide Video

Oral-B at it's finest!
Hey there.  A few weeks ago, I received a Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide to use and review.  I must say that I was extremely excited to get to it.  A super powered toothbrush with several brushing settings and a smart guide to help you brush?  Yes please!  Now that I've had some experience with it, I want to let you guys know how it went.

First off, I am now brushing my teeth for MORE than the dentist recommended 2 minutes.  The smartguide and the 30 second timer for each section of your mouth is 100% responsible for that.  Without the timer, I know that I was rushing my brushing.  I also noticed that I may have been brushing a little too hard as well.  The power toothbrush has a red light (and sad face on the smartguide) to show you that you have brush too hard.   Have the smartguide as a guide, I know that I'll brush for the full 2 minutes and then do a little extra brushing because of the new teeth brushing ritual that I have incorporated into my oral hygiene.  I brush for 2 minutes using the whitening setting and then an extra minute using the deep clean setting.  I actually spend more time brushing my teeth than brushing my hair!  lol

Goodbye 20s! Hello Super Spartan Race!!!

Hey there.  As mentioned earlier in my Twitter feed, today is the last day of my 20's.  Yup, as of tomorrow, I will be 30 years old.  Now... I'm not one to make a big deal over birthdays.  Actually, I'm one that doesn't really care how old (or young) one is.  I usually forget how old I am and my wife is the one to remind me.  Well...  in this instance, my wife has reminded me of the big 30 once a week, every week for the past few weeks.  lol  I don't feel 30.  To be honest, I don't even know how "old" I feel.  I'm still a goofball, I still play video games (as if that's a bad thing...), and I still take part in less than wise activities (sliding down the stair case on cardboard!  C'mon!  Don't tell that you've never done it!)  If anything, I'm not as active as I used to be.  But that's about to change!  Starting tomorrow, I will go out for a morning run.  Yup.  I need to start training.  Why?  Because I'm going to take part of the Super Spartan Race coming this January!!!

The Color Run 2012

Hey there.  Guess who just signed up to do The Color Run in the city of Irvine this April?!?!  That's right!  This guy!  I told myself that I wanted to do some more running this year.  I started the year well by doing a good 5 mile run about 3 times a week but have kind of ventured off from that pass.  It's OK, though.  I'm still staying in shape and am squeezing a workout here and there.  But when I made that commitment to be in more shape this year, I told myself that running a 5K would be a goal.  That goal is now going to happen on April 22nd!!

If you guys haven't head of The Color Run, it's pretty damn cool.  It's not so much about speed but more about enjoying yourself.  You start off with a white colored shirt and at the 1K mark, you'll be splattered with paint.  By the time you reach the end, you'll be covered in colors!  Check out the video below of how much fun it can be!

The Walking Dead Video Game

Hey there. Now that the season is over, fans are looking for a zombie fix.  The Walking Dead has been insanely popular and it was only a matter of time before a video game based on the show/comic would be made.  My friends... it is happening.  TellTale games has taken the challenge and well... check out the trailer for The Walking Dead video game!

Whoa!  I love that the kept the look and feel of The Walking Dead.  It seems almost as if it plays out like a comic book!  Again, this is just the trailer so you can't take too much from it but it sure does look promising.  I really hope that they take their time and do this right or there will be a lot of upset fans.  What do you think of the trailer?
