The World's Hottest Chicken Wings

How spicy can they be?  I mean, they are only made with
chile peppers with skull faces on them!
Hey there. This weekend, I took the family to the Los Angeles County Fair (I'll have a post on our trip real soon) and while there, I stumbled across the hottest chicken wings in the world.  Hmmm...  I know that many of these fairs boast some pretty outrageous claims, but you know what... I love chicken wings and when it comes to spicy food, I don't mind trying new things.  We first passed by the sign shortly after we arrived at the fair and as we enjoyed the fair, I mulled over whether or not I would like to take on that challenge.  As our day came close to an end, we walked by the sign once again.  As we were walking towards the parking lot, it was the wife that mentioned the chicken wings and whether or not I wanted to try them.  At that point, I knew I was going to dive in.  Here is my story told by pictures!

September Photo a Day - What You Wore Today

Hey there.  Today was beach day!  We got up all early and headed to the beach for a fun filled day of fun in the sun.  So what did I wear today?  Practically nothing.  Just my do it all black shorts and instead of taking sandals, I wore my awesome Raiders slippers.  Yup, I'm cool like that.  And that hottie sun bathing in the background?  My awesome wife.  Few fewwwwwwwwwwww!  I looooooove beach day!  lol  Later!

The Loss of a Baby Cousin

Hey there.  I've been kind of missing this past week.  I found out this Monday that my baby cousin (2nd gen cousin) passed away recently.  It devastated me.  Especially since my little baby cousin's dad (1st gen cousin) and I grew up together and I've always felt close to him.  It's tough to have to bury a child.  It is the most devastating thing that a parent would ever have to endure.  While at the viewing, I couldn't but to get choked up.  A small angel... lying there motionless is not what a baby should be.  A child is the epitome of life, the essence of joy, and the very definition of a growing family.  To have a young one be taken away from you before he had a chance to experience the outside world, shattered those thoughts for my cousin, his wife, and the whole family.

August Photo a Day - Sibling

Hey there.  You see that guy up there?  Yup, that's my brother.  He posted this pic on Instagram not too long ago and I thought it was hilarious.  Not so much the pose or any thing like that.  It's the fact that we were at the same place, The Downey Brewery, earlier that week my brother was irked that he wasn't invited.  lol  So in retaliation, he sent this pic to show my friends and I, "how he does it."  lol  Yeah, we're awesome like that.  The last time my brother and I were both at The Downey Brewery at the same time, we each had about 6 boots (28 ounces of beer per boot!) and the wife had banned me from setting foot at the Brewery again.  lol  Yeah, that happened.

Anyways, it's always a fun time when I'm hanging with my bro so here's a little shout out to the only sibling I have, my lil brother.  *Cheers*  Later!

August Photo a Day - Heart

Hey there.  Today's photo is supposed to be of a heart.  I decided that I would do a quick sketch of a heart with the names of my wife and kids surrounding it.  In essence, that is my heart.  The wife and kids will always be in my heart and they always come first.  The sketch is not one of my best hearts ever drawn, but it's something that I wanted to share with you.  Later!

August Photo A Day - A Favorite Part of Your Day

Hey there. One of my favorite parts of the day is having my morning coffee.  It's a daily thing for me and it pretty much signals my body to wake up and get going.  lol  I'll admit that it's better during the weekend though.  I get to have my cup of coffee with the wife but since today is Thursday, I'll have it at my desk at work.  If you haven't already, you should definitely check out my Ode to Coffee.  I'm sure it'll bring a smile to your face.  lol  So what's your favorite part of the day?  Later!

Central New Jersey as a Vacation Destination

Hey there.  Earlier this month, the wife and I enjoyed a vacation during our anniversary.  When we do get some free time to ourselves, we end up going somewhere local.  Somewhere close to Southern California where we can easily drive to and from.  Where did go this time around?  We went to Las Vegas.  Don't get me wrong, it was fun and we had a great time, but you know what... we've done Vegas before.  We've done San Diego.  We've done Laughlin.  We need to head out to the East Coast.  We need so check out what the  Eastern shore has to offer.  While there are some more glamorous spots out East like New York, I've heard that Central New Jersey may be the place to see.

Entering into the World of Pinterest

Hey there.  A question that I find myself asking my wife recently is, "what are you doing?" while she's staring at her Kindle Fire screen.  The answer these past couple of weeks has been, "Pinterest."  lol  Yeah, she's fallen into the endless list of ideas, recipes, pictures, DIY stuffs, and countless other subjects that make Pinterest so interesting.  My wife said that it's like fantasy football, but for women.  lol  I didn't want to get involved with Pinterest, but I must admit that seeing her laugh, go "Oh!", be intrigued, and inspired made me want to check it out.  I also saw it as a great way to promote the site... well... at least I think it will be.  I am still a rookie when it comes to Pinterest so I don't know exactly how I will use it.  I did manage to add a "pin it" button to each post but am still not sure if it will increase traffic.  That's why I would love to hear from you guys.  Especially my blogger friends.  Do you use Pinterest?  And if so, how do you use it to promote your site?  I added a few pics just to test it out but now I find myself with empty boards and I want to fill em up!  Let's hear it, friends.  How is Pinterest best used?  Later!

Booking That Las Vegas Hotel & Casino Getaway for Under $100

Las Vegas!!!  Here I come!!!
Hey there.  It's set.  Vacation time has been approved and it's time to book that Las Vegas getaway for a few days.  The wife and I sorely need it and just when we were talking about getting away for a few days, I get an Email from Groupon with an awesome deal for a 2 night stay at the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino for under $80.  The cool thing about Vegas is that it really doesn't matter where you stay since you want to visit all the casinos and attractions so you're really only looking for a place to sleep, but this deal included all you can drink alcoholic drinks from 4-8 pm, 2 free breakfasts, and 2 free entries to the day spa (and gym).  FREE DRINKS!!!!  That alone makes this deal worth it.  That's a pretty damn awesome deal, if you ask me.

If you're looking to score this deal, get to it.  Quantities are limited so you need to act fast before the deal is over.  The last possible day to score the deal is June 8th but they could be long gone by then.  So let's hear it, what are some of your favorite summer vacation spots?  Later!

Goodbye 20s! Hello Super Spartan Race!!!

Hey there.  As mentioned earlier in my Twitter feed, today is the last day of my 20's.  Yup, as of tomorrow, I will be 30 years old.  Now... I'm not one to make a big deal over birthdays.  Actually, I'm one that doesn't really care how old (or young) one is.  I usually forget how old I am and my wife is the one to remind me.  Well...  in this instance, my wife has reminded me of the big 30 once a week, every week for the past few weeks.  lol  I don't feel 30.  To be honest, I don't even know how "old" I feel.  I'm still a goofball, I still play video games (as if that's a bad thing...), and I still take part in less than wise activities (sliding down the stair case on cardboard!  C'mon!  Don't tell that you've never done it!)  If anything, I'm not as active as I used to be.  But that's about to change!  Starting tomorrow, I will go out for a morning run.  Yup.  I need to start training.  Why?  Because I'm going to take part of the Super Spartan Race coming this January!!!

The Magic of Chucky and Child's Play

Hi, I'm Chucky wanna play?
Hey there.  It's Friday night and we're hanging out at home looking for a movie to watch.  We could go out and catch a just released film but we decided to browse through Netflix to see what we could find.  What we decided on was Child's Play, the 1988 cult classic.  The kids haven't seen it.  They're more into the new stuff.  They care not for 80s awesome unless I bring it up and tell them about it.  I always said how some of my earliest memories are that of my dad and I staying up watching movies on HBO.  I'm sure my mother didn't approve.  I was no more than 8 years old or so and there I was, watching Child's Play, Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Phantasm, Hellraiser, you know, movies along those lines.  Looking back at them now, they aren't really child material and I wouldn't show my kids stuff like that at that young of an age.  Anyways, Child's Play came up on Netflix and there I go, saying how awesome it is that we just have to watch it.

Getting Ready for The Color Run 2012

Hey there.  So tomorrow is my first ever 5K run.  And what better run to do than The Color Run.  It's not a timed run, so there is no pressure to finish in the top whatever and it seems like it's a lot of fun.  Today, we had to travel to Laguna Hills (over an hour away) to pick up our pre race packets.  Turns out that you get an awesome The Color Run shirt, head band, a color run sticky tattoo, and a bag of powdered paint.  It looks like the wife and I are now ready to go.  I should have taken a pic of the stuff, but I forgot and to be honest with you, I'm too lazy to go out to the car and get them.  lol

The Adventures of Softita and Crunchita

Hey there.  You know what I like to do for fun?  I make up little short stories (and songs!) about whatever pops into my head OR whatever is on TV.  I don't do it for me... I do it for the kids!  lol  My wife is not the biggest fan.  If she is, she has a pretty weird way of showing it.  Facepalming is a form appreciation right!  See!!!  You did it just now, huh dear?  lmao!  Anyways, it's pretty common for me to start singing Family Maaaaaaaaaaan (a la Rocket Man) while watching Stewie from Family Guy sing it or see an awesome commercial and then turn to one of the kids and say, "In a world..." and go off and do my own little drama filled commercial of whatever we just saw on TV.  Yeah... I do that.

Daaaaaaad! Moooooooom!

Cute:  Daaaaad!!! Look!  I sit myself!
Hey there.  MOM!!!  DAD!!!  What parent hasn't heard their kid screaming at the top of their lungs because at that moment in time, they need their mom or dad?  lol  When the kids are under 4 or 5, it's cute.  The other weekend, I was playing basketball with friends and family and I took the kids to the park.  The wife wasn't feeling all that great that morning so when our 2 year old needed a parent, what do you think I heard? DAAAAAAAD!!!  lol  And you know what... he was a cutie pie doing it.  The guys that I was playing basketball with are dads too so they knew the drill.  We all heard dad out in the distance and we stopped and turned around to see where it was coming from and to make sure the young one wasn't hurt.  He wasn't hurt...  he needed help sitting on the bench... or he needed me to get his older sister to NOT tie his hair... or, in his eyes, did something awesome and NEEDED dad to see.  lol  Like I said, under 5 years old, it's cute.

Thoughts on... The Woman in Black

Hey there.  Sometime last week, I treated the family out to the theaters to catch a flick.  The wife found this great spot where movie tickets are no more than $3.  Now that is awesome!  The only catch is that the films have been out for more than a month so they're not the newest of films.  Nevertheless, if I haven't seen em, they're new to me and to catch a flick on the big screen for only $3 is pretty damn awesome!  Anyways, the film that we ended up watching was The Woman in Black starring Harry Potter.. er... Daniel Radcliffe.  I've heard that the film was worth a look and I'm still trying to shake Radcliffe as Potter.  lol  If you haven't had a chance to see the film and plan to, don't continue.  SPOILERS AHEAD!  But you have seen it, then go ahead and read my thoughts on...  The Woman in Black.

Pokies, Slots, and Fruit Machines

I LOVE the UFO bonus on Little Green Men!
Hey there.  You know, I love having a few days off from work.  I had one last week and I enjoyed another one today.  I get to spend some time with the wife and kids and we tend to just relax and have fun.  Today, the wife and I discussed my up and coming birthday.  The big 30!  We were thinking of maybe hitting Las Vegas for my birthday.  That would be awesome.  The wife is a fan of the slots while I'm more into poker.  But that didn't stop us from looking into it.  The funny thing is... when I start looking "into it" I venture off and find quirky facts instead of doing what I'm supposed to do.  lol I guess it's the whole, "oh... shiny" syndrome most men suffer from.  lmao!!!  Here is what I found on slot machines from different countries!

Thoughts on... Paranormal Activity 3

Paranormal Activity 3 Movie Poster
Hey there.  We recently checked out Paranormal Activity 3.  The wife and I have seen the first two and I don't find them as frightening as my wife does.  I remember her being spooked to the point where we needed to sleep with a light on for awhile.  lol  When it comes to horror films, I usually watch them by myself unless I can convince her to watch them with me.  Needing a movie to check out, this was a great candidate for one to watch with the wife and kids.  Yup... the kids.  The film is rated R so you guys might want to check it out first before watching it with the preteens, but there really isn't anything going on but a lot of swear words.  Since this is the third part of the series and the wife already knows what to expect (eerie noises, quick movements, and blank stares at the camera) I wasn't too worried that the film would be a little too much for the family.  If you plan on seeing the film, don't read further.  SPOILERS AHEAD.  But if you've seen it and what to hear my take, read on.  Here are my thoughts on... Paranormal Activity 3.

The Importance of Taking a Mental Health Day

A strong indication that you need a Mental Health Day!
Hey there.  You know... I work to hard.  I don't take many vacations.  Not because I don't want to, but because I always seem needed at work.  I've been working at the same place for well over 8 years now...  it will be 9 years this May.  And even though I am proud that I have managed to discover a career, it's tough to know that the time off is rare.  And if I do get time off, it's in small spurts.  I could never request weeks, let alone, a full month off at work.  It's just not possible.  With my, I'm lucky to get 3 days straight.  That was what was supposed to happen this week, but it didn't.  Instead, I'm settling for today, Friday, off and next Wednesday and Thursday.  Mondays and Tuesdays and are out of the question because of the meetings that I am a part of.  I think that I need to simply accept that this is what it is and cherish the moments that I can take off from work.
