Give Your Sweetie the Gift of Focus this Valentine's Day with Brain Age: Concentration Training

Hey there!  Valentine's Day is tomorrow!!!  What do you have planned for your Valentine?  A sweet dinner for two?  A bouquet of roses?  A box of chocolates?  That's all well and good... if you want your Valentine's Day to be just like everybody else's day!  Why not change it up?  Why not be spontaneous?  Why not give the gift of focus?!  A gift of gaming?  Well, lucky for you that I have solved that dilemma for you!  BAM!  A pink Nintendo 3DS with Brain Age: Concentration Training!  Let's be honest here, candy, flowers, and dinner are standard gifts now for pretty much any occasion.  Your Valentine COULD be thinking that their gift will be similar to millions.  It’s the romantics who look to breathe new life into their relationships through spontaneity and surprise and what better way to say “I love you” than with something they’ll use every day and by giving them the gift of focus?  You just can't go wrong with that!

February 12th is Pancake Day

Hey there.  Did you guys know that Feb. 12th is Pancake Day?!?!  As I was going about my daily business, I noticed that there was a lot of emphasis put on pancakes.  I thought to myself, well... maybe today people finally realized how awesome pancakes are and decided to show the world!  I mean, c'mon... pancakes are the perfect breakfast food.  When the family and I decide to have breakfast at a restarant, it doesn't matter where, I will order pancakes.  I love them that much.  But I must admit... I missed out on the Pancake Day fun.  I would have loved to have made pancakes for the family, or head on over to a local restaurant for some pancakes for dinner!  Hey!  Pancakes are great anytime of day.  Don't judge me!  lol  Anyways, I missed out yesterday.  But you know what... I don't need wait until next year for some pancake fun!

Get a Life Podcast Ep. 7 - The One with Video Game Adventures and Gateway Video Games

Hey there.  Ready for another episode of the Get a Life Podcast?  Awesome!  In this episode, Brian and I discuss our video game adventures.  Gaming has seemingly slipped into our everyday lives and occurs even when NOT gaming.  lol  Also, we touch base on that one gateway video game that molded us into the gamers that we are today.

During our show, we posed the question, "What kind of video game adventures have you had in real life?"  Let's hear it in the comments, friends!  Also, we mentioned one of our favorite charities on our show, the Child's Play Charity, and if you are interested in donating or simply looking for more information, please make sure to check out their website at ChildsPlayCharity.org.  Over $5 million was donated to the organization in 2012 and it would be awesome if 2013 brought that and more for kids in need.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for the 3DS in Stores on March 24, 2013

In stores March 24th, 2013
Hey there. We are all familiar with the many of adventures of Mario and Luigi, but are you guys familiar with adventures of Luigi?  Luigi's Mansion is a great game for Nintendo's Gamecube and it allowed the player to control Luigi as he explored a haunted mansion, fought ghosts, and save his brother Mario.  It was a pretty cool game and the only negative thing that I can say about the game is that the game was too short.  Well, for those of us that was left wanting more, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, will be released this March, exclusively  for the Nintendo 3DS!

My ASUS Laptop Screen is Busted... but It's OK

NOOOOOOOOO!!! NOT LUCY!!!!!!!!!!  =o(
Hey there.  You know what happened after recording an episode of the Get a Life Podcast?  My laptop screen broke.  Literally, minutes after the show.  I set my laptop down, went to grab something to drink, came back to a broken screen.  My 2 youngest (3 and 7) were running around, near my laptop, so when I questioned them about it, naturally, they pointed the finger at each other.  lol  I held it in.  I'll admit that I was pretty upset and I probably reacted a lot better than what was expected.  The kids know that the laptop is Daddy's life.  lol  Accidents happen, though.  I'm not mad... not anymore, lol,  but man was I feeling down.  I practically live off the damn thing.  I do all of my online work on my laptop and to have a busted screen was a huge bummer.  Especially since I feel pretty good about the work that I've recently done.  It pained me to think that my computer could be out of commission until I got it fixed!!!  But never fear!  A replacement screen is on it's way!  YAY!!!  I'm thinking of creating a "how to replace your screen" type post.  Create a video and all that good stuff.  I'm thinking about it.  The screen gets here tomorrow and if I'm up for it, I'll do a quick how to replace tutorial.  It'll be the first one I do so bare with me if it sucks.  lol

Free Downloadable Gold Classics Pack for the New Super Mario Bros. 2 Game for the Nintendo 3DS

Hey there. Do you have the New Super Mario Bros 2 game for the Nintendo 3DS?  If so, you are one of the many gamers that have collectively amassed over 300 billion in gold coins.  300  BILLION!!!  To celebrate, Nintendo is giving owners of the game a free pack of coin rush courses to be included with the FREE Gold Classics Pack.  Well... free for a limited time.  The Gold Classics Pack was inspired by Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros 3 and will offer 3 new coin rush courses.

I love how Nintendo takes care of it's own.  Fans have always backed up Super Mario and Luigi and by giving away a free downloadable pack of courses to those loyal fans is freakin' awesome!  If you are not so sure how to download the Gold Classics Pack, you can go to the official New Super Mario Bros 2 site and get instructions straight from the source.  The Gold Classics Pack will be free from now until 1/31/13.  As of 2/1/13, the Gold Classics Pack can be downloaded for $2.50.   Thanks, Nintendo, for the free stuff!  I, and your loyal fans, greatly appreciate it!

So... how many coins have you collected in New Super Mario Bros. 2?  I'm dying to know if any of you have collected more than I!  Later!

Nintendo Wii U Launches in the US

Hey there.  Anyone else excited about the Wii-U release this weekend?  I walked into a local game stop on Saturday night already saw people lining up to get their pre-ordered Wii-U.  It was a pretty insane sight, actually.  New York City was an even crazier sight!  To celebrate the Wii-U release on Nov. 18th, Mii characters roamed the streets of New York City on Nov. 16th!  Check out some of those fun pictures of that event!

Nintendo: The Gift of Gaming

Real life picture of me at age 5
Hey there.  Quick!  Think back at your most fondest, earliest gaming memory!  For those in my generation (I'm 30, by the way), the answer is going to be playing Atari or Nintendo at home.  Atari may have been in homes before Nintendo and I remember playing them both, but the fondest memories come from playing Nintendo.  I remember my cousin getting his before I did and I remember sneaking over to his place to play. We lived in an apartment building and his apartment was right below mine.  We would play into the wee hours of the night.  Whether it was Super Mario Bros., Contra, Bubble Bobble (which I've introduced to the kids on the Wii) or The Legend of Kage we simply could not get enough, but my most fondest memory in my gaming history has to be when my Dad handed me my Nintendo.

Nintendohemian Rhapsody

Hey there. I love me a good NES title. Why? Well because they are fun and challenging!  There was no internet to tell us what to do, there was rarely a strategy guide in sight, and if you died after using all of your continues, that was it.  Game over.  Start from the beginning... AGAIN!  Nevertheless, I loved them.  The video below expresses my sentiment EXACTLY!  Take a listen.  If you are a NES fan, you're going to love this!  Later!

2012 US Presidential Election

Hey there. Have you exercised your right to vote, yet? Whether you back Romney or Obama, we as Americans have the priveledge to go out there and have our voices to be heard. Too bad that many of us choose to be silent and then complain about the outcome.  While America is out to voting to elect as their leader, I wanted to share this little comic that makes a very strong point for certain mustachioed friend.  lol  Later!
