Chris Cornell's Tribute to Whitney Houston

Hey there.  I expect the tributes to come from all genres of music.  Whitney had such a great voice that it touched and influenced many artists.  Greatness respects greatness and it's only fitting that some of the biggest names in the music business are paying their respects to Whitney Houston.  But just how influential was she?  Just check out this great rendition of I Will Always Love You by Chris Cornell.  One of the pioneers of grunge music reaches across his element and delivers one beautifully crafted tribute.  The guy that screamed Outshine, the man that introduced us to Spoonman, the soul that produced this voice.  So raw, so emotional, so beautiful.  Check it out.

SAY NO Releases 7 Tracks on Their Secret Page

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of SAY NO for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Hey there.  I'm all for music.  I'm a fan of many genres, the heavy metal/rock & roll variety is my favorite, so when a musical act decides to try something a little different, I'm all for it.  The recent trend of big name artists has been releasing a track, or even a whole album, to the public for free downloading.  I think it's great.  Why not?  A small thank you to the fans that have made you millions.  Will it really hurt to provide us with free tunes?  On the contrary, I think that those gestures of gratitude will actually increase fan loyalty.  I'm more than willing to support a band that is willing to give us a taste of their music for free.  How else are we to determine whether or not we like it?  This is why I'm in support of the band SAY NO.

Top 5 Christmas Songs

1. All I Want for Christmas - Mariah Carey
Mariah has one the best and most recognizable Christmas songs in the last 20 years.

2. Last Christmas- Wham!
George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley make a classsic song that is remade by literally everyone.

3. Baby, Its Cold Outside-EVERYONE
This classic tune is fun, has been sang by pretty much anyone with a little eggnog and a passion for parody.

4. Let It Snow Although I live in Los Angeles, I cant help but to know the lyrics to this song considering its played at every department store while I'm shopping for mom's Xmas gift.

5. Feliz Navidad
Who did not sing this song during their Christmas holiday play???

I'm sure we've all heard these songs while we're driving to our destinations at some point in the past four weeks. You will fail trying to avoid these songs within the week that brings upon us Christmas day. So, enjoy them, listen, sing a long, buy a Christmas album and and sing a long with your friends and family while sippin on some eggnog, for this is the one time of the year that it is ok to this and its accepted. No one is going around singing the "Monster Mash" right? right?

Ex Warrent Singer Jani Lane Found Dead in his Motel Room

Hey there. Another celebrity has been found dead this year. Earlier this month, singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment and now ex Warrant singer Jani Lane was found dead in his motel room in Los Angeles. He was 47.

Jani Lane was an on and off singer for Warrant since their start up back in the 80s. The band's most well recognized tune is Cherry Pie and it propelled them into fame. There still is no certain cause of death, but like most glam rock celebrities, Jani had his issues with alcohol and drugs so it would not surprise me if the LA coroners find some sort of killer cocktail of drugs and alcohol in his system.

It's a sad day, friends. A small piece of 80s rock has passed on. Later.

Amy Winehouse Found Dead in Her London Home

Hey there.  Another celebrity death has just been confirmed.  This time it's the award winning singer, Amy Winehouse.  Reports are flowing across the internet that she was found dead today in her London Home.  She was 27 years old.  Known primarily for her hit single Rehab, Any was also notorious for her drug use and mental health issues.  There were many pictures of Amy looking her worst while on drugs and other substances and many feared for her life.  I expect the news to announce that she died of an over dose.  It just seems up her alley and if that was the case, it's a sad sad ending to a woman with a great voice that needed some guidance.  Rest in peace, Amy.  Later.

Pop Up Video Returns This Fall on VH1

Hey there.  Remember back in the days when music channels actually played music videos?  lol  I'll admit that I find myself more and more distant from today's up and coming music artists than I did over a decade ago.  Top 10 vidoe shows actually played the full video.  Now a days, top 10 video shows has a 10 second clip of the video and then 5 minutes of an interview or the host doing something stupid.  I just can't watch it anymore, so I don't.  But something that I do watch, whenever I stumble across it, is VH1's Pop Up Video show.  Do you remember that?  They actually played the video, from beginning to end, and they would "pop up" little factoids about the artist or song.  I thought it was extremely entertaining.  Especially for someone like me who goes and checks out the trivia section on IMDB as soon as I'm done watching a movie.  lol  I'm just quirkly like that.

A Place to Find Cheap Seats

Hey there.  Things are finally starting to look up.  The economy is crawling in an upward trend and I have decided that I want to treat the family out to an event.  The problem that I'm having is finding tickets at a resonable price.  Hey...  just because things are looking better doesn't mean I want to spend an arm and a leg to entertain my family.  lol

Bohemian Rhapsody: Muppets Style

Hey there.  The kids really have been enjoying Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen.  I would sing it at home all the time because that's just what I do.  lol  But since the song is featured in Rock Band 3, the kids have been exposed to it more so than usual and they've started singing it out of the blue now as well.  They are definitely Queen fans.  Especially my youngest daughter since she requests Bicycle Race all the time.  lol  Well, this one is for them.  I heard about this awesome rendition featuring the muppets and I had to add it.  Enjoy!

L.A. Drummer Meets Manchester Guitarist

Guest post of the week by Brittany Booker

I'm a drummer in a local L.A. rock band and we were just getting started with gigs in the West Hollywood area. Rehearsals usually start about 4 PM and can last until we drop some twelve hours later. As usual, I'm out the door at quarter to four, set my Homealarmsystems home security alarm system and head out for the studio. One day, I stopped at Pink's Hot Dogs for my once a month chili dog splurge and ran into a great guy from the UK.

Alex was just visiting here, doing the usual tourist traps along Hollywood Blvd, but we got to talking about music and found we had a lot in common. He plays guitar with a band in Manchester, and who knows, might one day want to hook up with a U.S. band in Los Angeles. Alex and I talk almost everyday online and even set up a camera for face to face chats. We're two straight guys that really hit it off, and I believe there's an underlying reason for everything. Maybe one day we will play together in a band, but for now, our long distance friendship is a huge support system for each other in the music business from California to Lancashire. I've already been out to visit him once and had a great time checking out the Manchester music scene. Just goes to show you that your best friend does not have to live next door. With today's technology, he or she can be living anywhere.

Kirk Hammet Kicks Ass... And Kids?!?!?!

Hey there friends. I love Metallica. I've seen them a few times when they're in the Los Angeles area and they put on one awesome live show. A staple of theirs during the Death Magnetic Tour is hundreds of beach balls falling from the ceiling and everyone in the stands punches them and the band members kick them off stage. Well... the below video shows what may happen when "unauthorized personnel" in on the stage. Hope the little guy is alright. Later!

Thanks for the link, Enigmageek!
