What I'm Playing... Magnetic by Nature

Hey there.  I know I haven't posted a What I'm Playing post in quite awhile.  To be quite honest, I've been stuck playing Bioshock Infinite (read my thoughts on the game here) for the past couple of weeks and I don't see myself stopping until I earn most of the achievements!  lol  I've gotten through the game, but I've spent quite a bit of time I'm battlimg my way through 1999 mode.  Anyways, in between my bouts with the HandyMan and Sirens, I'll jump on the Xbox Live Marketplace and play an indie game or two.  The most recent one I've gotten?  Magnetic by Nature.

Thoughts on... Pester (XBLA Game) by Flump Studios

Hey there.  Our good friends over at Flump Studios are at it again and have released another GREAT XBLA game!  Super Killer Hornet (SKH) was pretty cool and now they have released Pester, another great shooter that takes me back to the days of Gradius and Galaga.  Pester is currently available at the Xbox Live Marketplace for a mere 80 MS!  Before we get into the game itself, I want to give a little info on Flump Studios.  Flump Studios is an up and coming small indie game developer and they are based in the UK.  They have been working on games for about a year now and have developed a few mobile games before their SKH release on Xbox Live Arcade. Pester is their second game into the marketplace and I believe they are already working on thier next title.  I respect all game developers but it's something about the indie titles that I feel more drawn too.  I feel as if they are living their dream and it's pretty cool to see thier hard work finally pay off.  That's a big reason why I enjoyed Indie Game: The Movie... but that's for another post.  Now... my thoughts on....  Pester!

Get a Life Podcast Ep. 6 - The One with Nels Anderson and Mark of the Ninja

Hey there.  Ready for another episode of the Get a Life Podcast?  Awesome!  This episode, our guest, Nels Anderson, joins us to discuss Klei Entertainment's awesome game, Mark of the Ninja.  I love this episode, particularly because we get to see what makes Nels tick AND we get a small taste of Klei Entertainment's next project, Don't Starve.  It's definitely an episode that you do not want to miss!

Mark of the Ninja is one of the best critically acclaimed games on the Xbox Live Arcade and if you haven't had a chance to check it out's awesome and unique stealth action, you MUST check it out now.  It really has a 3D feel in a 2D world and it's one of the games that I highly recommend you go and get.  Now, here's the latest episode of the Get a Life Podcast!  Enjoy!

Thoughts On... LIMBO

Hey there.  I have always been fascinated by PlayDead's Xbox Arcade megahit, LIMBO.  When the demo was released, I immediately downloaded it.  When the price of 1200 MS was announced, I was extremely hesitant in purchasing the game.  Many reviews at the time criticized the "short gameplay" and I really like to get a good bang for my buck.  Today, you can get LIMBO, Trials HD, and Splosion Man for about $20.  I managed to score enough free MS points through the Xbox Reward program so I ended up coughing up the 1200 to download the game.  I know... I know...  Playdead's LIMBO was the talk of the town when it came out and I'm just getting around to it now.  Aside from a few screen shots, I made a conscience effort to stay away from ANYTHING that would spoil the game for me.  Thank goodness, I did.  LIMBO is more than just a game, it is art.  If you haven't had a chance to play the game and plan to, step away now.  Go kill a few hours and play LIMBO and then come back to discuss.  SPOILERS BELOW!  Now, after my first playthrough, here are my thoughts on...  LIMBO.

Super Killer Hornet XBLA Indie Game Review

Are you ready for a fast pace shooter?
Hey there.  Do you remember the days of when space shooters where the games to play?  Awesome games such as Space Invaders, Galaga, and Gradius?  Space Invaders pretty much started the whole spaceship destroying alien type enemies, Galaga made it fun, and Gradius made it challenging.  Of those three, I would say that Gradius is my favorite.  Why?  Because hordes of enemies would attack you with a barrage of bullets.  You needed to be quick on your reflexes or be extremely powered up to stand a chance.  It's one of those games that you can feel proud of beating it.  Super Killer Hornet brings a part of that nostalgia back.

Our good friends at Flump Studios provided a copy of their first ever game released in the Xbox Marketplace for me to try out and review.  After only an hour or so of playing the game, I feel better than prepared to give you guys an honest review of this game.  So let's get to it.  Here's all that you need to know about Super Killer Hornet for the Xbox 360 and Windows 7 phone.
