Trying my Hand at AI Art Made from Pictures I Take

 

Hey there. I've been away for awhile. I was a bit lost for some time. Motivation was at an all time low and I just wasn't feeling it. Didn't feel like writing... didn't feel like reviewing... didn't feel like playing video games... didn't even feel like taking pictures. All the things that I had hoped would spark the drive again...simply didn't. So I've spent the last 2 months or so away from the internet. For the most part, that is. I did spend a lot of time chatting it up with community members at The Otaku Box Community and I spent a lot of time on Tik Tok. Both of these were instrumental in finally snapping me out of my funk. Tik Tok for exposing me to AI art and the TOB community members for providing me the confidence and feedback needed to pursue this. Pursue what? AI art made from pictures that I take! So... here me out...

AI art is relatively new to me. I saw many posts of AI art made of anime characters. I noticed that the art was just a tiny bit off but you can tell that they were the characters that they were meant to be. No... this is not bootleg images, AI art is essentially fan art. After looking at it through that lens, I wondered how my pictures would fare as art. Since I was in the middle of trying something new with my pictures (see image above), I decided it to run it through the AI art machine and see what it churns out. After much, much, MUCH trial and error, I was able to create this image:

This is one of the first images I created. I didn't realize that there is some wonkiness here. Look at her eyes and what is going on with the hand near her face? lol 

Not bad, right?! I thought it was pretty good, so I decided to share this image with the TOB community members for feedback. I received all kinds of feedback, some critical, some constructive, but all positive. I invite all kinds of feedback because that's how we learn and grow, right? This image is not perfect. Albedo seems to have like a kajillion fingers on her left hand and her right eye is definitely bigger than her left. I was blind to these imperfections because I was just happy that I found something to spark my creative juices. I can't thank enough how the TOB community has helped me through this rough patch!

Now... because I have taken many pictures of anime figures throughout the years, I decided to go back to through my anime lady pictures and see what kind of images I can create. I've only shared a handful of images so far, but I have created 100's of these images already. The majority are wonky. As in... the AI will create an image with 3 hands or 3 eyes or are just plain wonky... but some times, I'll get absolute gems. I'll share a few those gems today and I would love your feedback. I'll post the original picture first and then the AI art creation. I'd like to think that I've gotten better as time went on so I'll post the pictures in order of creation. Please leave a comment with your favorite one so far!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'll be sharing my AI art here, but I'll go a little more in depth. I'll post my original picture and then I'll post one or two wonky AI art creations before finishing off the post with the gem that I came up with. I'll leave some commentary of the art I post. What worked, what didn't work, what I love and what I don't. I think it's a great way to share my pictures, my art, and most importantly, my thoughts. I need to get my thoughts out there and I get this brain of mine churning again. But enough chatter. Let's get to pictures!!! Later!

Love the lighting in this one. Especially the specks of "dust" that illuminate in the light. Give this art piece some much needed atmosphere.

Love that the AI art added a ring to Rias' finger and a "church" like arch is subtly seen in the background. Overall, really well made.

Absolutely love this Hestia piece. The lighting really helps to define Hestia's figure and the way her blue eyes contrast against a her slightly darker skin really pop!

One of the more risque figures that I have. Love the blushing, the slightly blurred out wings, and again... the lighting in this piece. The lighting just creates a really amazing depth which really helps emphasize Rias' figure.
