The Death of Entrecard

Hey there.  Today marks the day that Entrecard has died.  Well, at least to me it has.  It started off as a great tool, especially for a rookie such as myself, and it did wonders to my site.  It brought traffic, it brought readers, and it made me friends.  The downside of it all is that you had to devote quite a bit of time to drop your card on sites.  Now, this wouldn't be so bad until you realize that you can only drop 30o cards a day, minimizing the amount of credits that you can earn in a day.  Then it hits you, you need well over 1500 credits just to advertise on one of the popular sites.  That's almost a week's worth of credits to advertise on one site!  The time has come where I just don't have the time or the patience to continue with Entrecard.  I plan on leaving the widget on for a few more days.  I don't want to cheat out those that purchased ads.  Once those are done, Entrecard will be gone.

Entrecard, I thank you for the friends.  I thank you for the jump start.  But somewhere along the lines, you lost your way.  You promised cash outs, you introduced a market, and ultimately crashed down with paid ads.  My needs have changed and even though you've tried to accommodate some of them, it just isn't working out.  I'm sure they'll be others, I'm sure others still love you, but as for me, I just don't have the time.  Wish you the best of luck.  Later!

  1. I arrived at this same conclusion about EC a few months ago, and I don't regret it. The time I spent there, and I only did about 50 drops/day is better spent commenting and building relationships with other bloggers and website owners. It served it's purpose, but I do feel that many quality blogs have left EC and the bulk of the new blogs are not of the same quality as when I first joined. Oh well, I'm thankful for all the bloggers I met through EC back when 95% of the blogs listed were worth visiting.

  2. Hey there Tina,

Yeah, I've been thinking about this move for quite some time and I've finally decided to make the move. At first I told myself that I'll start to commit more time to it, but when I saw that since I began, my Alexa dropped, I said no more. So it's finally time to cut ties with EC! Later.

  4. Hey there Pro,

I burned through all my credits today. I bought anything I could that would not go further than a week from now. So once those are done running, I'll be deleting my Entrecard account.

  5. If I had a life, I would probably follow suit, but since I don't, I would rather keep clicking than face the agony of withdrawal. Woe is me.

Thanks for leaving a comment on my confused post. I was thinking it may be an ad, but I still don't know what it would be lol.

  7. I started out using EC and met some great people and found some great reading material. I was playing their game. Now I use it to my advantage. I drop when I want to get more exposure to an individual post. Even then I'm rarely dropping more than 50. It's also fun to see all the new blogs that are popping up. It's like starting all over, lol.
