Call of Duty: Elite

Hey there.  You know, I've been spending a lot of time recently on finishing Final Fantasy XIII so that I can be caught up for when Final Fantasy XIII-2 hits shelves.  During the "down" time, I figured that I would play a little Black Ops and Rise of Nightmares to kill the time.  Well... it looks like Black Ops is beginning to take over.

I'm a man of numbers.  It's one of the reasons why I enjoy my day job.  It has everything to do with numbers.  Black Ops is very similar to that.  There are ratios EVERYWHERE.  There are contracts.  There are missions. There are expert levels to reach in just about everything you can use as a weapon.  This game can absolutely consume you!  And, since I've been one of the lucky few to be given access to the Call of Duty: Elite website, I've been completely consumed with bettering my stats!

Now, let's get one thing straight, I am NOT an elite player.  I simply am not good enough to be considered a challenging opponent.  I still have not gone through the campaign in the game and have spent my time playing online against other players.  To put it bluntly, they destroy the living crap out of me.  lol  But that's ok.  Again, I reference my day job when it comes to Black Ops.  When I first started working, my boss gave me this piece of advice, "When you get thrown in the fire, you learn to save your ass real quick."  That holds true to online multiplayer in Black Ops.  If you don't learn the nuances of the online competition, you will die.  Again.  And again.  And again.  I'm stuck in one of those "again" phases at the moment, but trust me, I'm getting better.

One of the tell all signs of your skill is your kill:death ratio.  Anything over 1 means you kill more players than the number of times you've been killed.  Anything under 1 means that you're killed more times than you've killed players.  Obviously, you want to strive for the highest possible ratio.  At the moment, I'm shooting for anything over 1.  When I first started playing... I was getting ratios of .10 or .20.  Awful, awful numbers... but I was learning and my teacher is my boy.  lol  He has more hours logged in the game so he's been giving me pointers and now that I've put more time into the game, my overall kill:death ratio is now .58.  It's still under 1 but it's a huge improvement over .10.  Check out my stats.
Not too bad for only 6 hrs of online play, no?  C'mon!  I'm looking for some positives here!  lol
So what am I doing this Labor Day weekend?  Bringing up that score!  I'm also going to compete in a few challenges offered to those that have access to the CoD Elite Beta site.  Look for me on Xbox 360.  Gamer Tag: METALLMANX  When your ass in the fire, you learn real quick to save your ass.  I've been in that fire for sometime now.  I'm ready to jump out.  Later!
