Friendly Fire Episode 3: Horror Video Games Afterthoughts

Corpse Party
What is your favorite horror game?
Hey there. I'm going to start a new series here where I'm going to include additional thoughts and what not after podcasts and shows that I am a part of. Nothing too deep. Well... at least I don't think. lol But anyways, last week, I was fortunate enough to be able to join the crew of  The Domain on the weekly live show, Friendly Fire. If you haven't seen the show, here you go! You'll want to watch (or listen) this before reading on. Thanks!

After hearing that back, I just wanted to add a little more personal insight on some of the topics discussed. The Resident Evil series took over most of the conversation, and rightfully so. Resident Evil is a staple when it comes to horror based video games. It stands toe to toe with Silent Hill and Dead Space. BUT... We missed quite a few greats that should have been mentioned. We're talking about games from the Fatal Frame Series, Alan Wake, and Amnesia: The Dark Descent to name a few that we completely missed. I think each of these games have that anxiety inducing, fear building atmosphere that is absolutely essential for a horror game to be great! It would have been great to get into some of the unique aspects of each of those games: The ghosts taking damage by camera, the flashlight being essential to burn ghosts, and how the sanity meter affects gameplay. All unique, all great, and all raised the bar to what a horror game should be.

So, after hearing the show, which do you believe it the greatest horror game ever? What are some great horror games that we didn't touch base on here. Let's hear it in the comments, friends! Later!
