Thoughts on... Manny Pacquiao losing to Timothy Bradley

Hey there.  On June 9th, the sport of boxing took a huge blow.  Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao went up against the undefeated Timothy Bradley in a match that was to test the skills of Bradley against a superior opponent.  Very few gave Bradley a chance.  As the announcer, Max Kellerman, said this is a fight between a good fighter and a great fighter with Pacquiao being the great fighter.  After 12 rounds of boxing, a decision had to be made, but in the eyes of everyone watching the fight, Pacquiao won in a landslide.  That is.. everyone but the 3 judges judging the fight.  In a shocking decision, Timothy Bradley defeated Manny Pacquiao by a split decision.  A decision that not only rocked the sporting world, but rocked all social media as well.

Thoughts on... The OKC Thunder Beating the LA Lakers 4-1

OKC wins Games 5 106-90 and the series 4 games to 1.

Hey there.  Tonight, the young guns took out the veteran dogs.  The OKC Thunder has taken out the Los Angeles Lakers from the NBA Playoffs.  Aside from Game 1, an OKC blowout, this has been a hard fought battle.  Each game decided in the final minutes in the 4th qtr.  It was essentially what NBA fans want to see.  Star players going at each other trying to will their team to victory.  Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden took it to Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum.  The problem for the Lakers?  Kobe was the only one that showed up to play most of the series.  Here are my thoughts on the OKC defeating the LA Lakers in the NBA Playoffs.

Thoughts on... The OKC Thunder 30 Point Beatdown of the LA Lakers

Hey there.  I am a Laker fan.  Always have and always will.  Tonight, the new kids on the block, the Oklahoma City Thunder, have just given the Lakers a beat down in game 1 of the Western Conference Semis.  Yup... A 30 pt beatdown!  Technically, it's 29  but still, the Lakers should be embarrassed of themselves.  Aside from a respectable 1st qtr, the Lakers were not prepared to play.  Here are some thoughts on the series and on game 1.

Thoughts on... The Woman in Black

Hey there.  Sometime last week, I treated the family out to the theaters to catch a flick.  The wife found this great spot where movie tickets are no more than $3.  Now that is awesome!  The only catch is that the films have been out for more than a month so they're not the newest of films.  Nevertheless, if I haven't seen em, they're new to me and to catch a flick on the big screen for only $3 is pretty damn awesome!  Anyways, the film that we ended up watching was The Woman in Black starring Harry Potter.. er... Daniel Radcliffe.  I've heard that the film was worth a look and I'm still trying to shake Radcliffe as Potter.  lol  If you haven't had a chance to see the film and plan to, don't continue.  SPOILERS AHEAD!  But you have seen it, then go ahead and read my thoughts on...  The Woman in Black.

Thoughts on... Paranormal Activity 3

Hey there.  We recently checked out Paranormal Activity 3.  The wife and I have seen the first two and I don't find them as frightening as my wife does.  I remember her being spooked to the point where we needed to sleep with a light on for awhile.  lol  When it comes to horror films, I usually watch them by myself unless I can convince her to watch them with me.  Needing a movie to check out, this was a great candidate for one to watch with the wife and kids.  Yup... the kids.  The film is rated R so you guys might want to check it out first before watching it with the preteens, but there really isn't anything going on but a lot of swear words.  Since this is the third part of the series and the wife already knows what to expect (eerie noises, quick movements, and blank stares at the camera) I wasn't too worried that the film would be a little too much for the family.  If you plan on seeing the film, don't read further.  SPOILERS AHEAD.  But if you've seen it and what to hear my take, read on.  Here are my thoughts on... Thoughts on... The Lorax

Hey there.  This weekend was the opening weekend of the film, The Lorax.  We haven't been to the theaters in awhile and I figured that it would be a great way to get out of heat (it was pretty hot in Southern California) and get into a nice air conditioned room and catch a movie.  Considering that 3D was only a dollar more per ticket, we went with the 3D version instead of the 2D version.  I'm still not sold on the whole 3D thing, but it does make movies a tad more interesting to watch.  After the popcorn was in the bucket, and the candy and nachos were passed out, we finally got to watching the film.  As with all of my "Thoughts on... posts, there are SPOILERS AHEAD.  If you plan on watching this film anytime soon, go check it out and then come back.  Here are my thoughts on...  The Lorax.

Thoughts on... Let Me In

Hey there.  I caught this film a week or so ago when I couldn't find anything else to watch on TV.  Isn't it funny that is usually how you stumble across movies you've been wanting to see?  I've had this one in my sight for awhile now but never really got around to watching it.  I seem to be attracted to foreign films that were remade for the American audience.  This one is no different since there is a Japanese, Spanish, French films based on the original Swedish book. Thoughts on... Insidious

Creepy kid?  Check.  Scary thing in the background?  Check.

Hey there.  Last night, I sat down with the wife and caught the movie Insidious on Netflix.  I love me a good a horror flick and the wife... well...  she gets spooked.  lol  Don't get me wrong, she'll sit down and watch them, but it usually has to be day time or she'll freak out.  The fact that the movie is rated PG-13 made me believe that it will not be as disturbing as other movies that I have watched.  The idea of the film is a good one, but I think it could have been better.  I really think that the rating hurt this film more than anything else as I'll explain below.  There will be spoilers below, so if you have not seen this movie and plan to... go do that now and then come back!  You have been warned!  So here are my thoughts on... Hey there.  The NBA is back!  After much anticipation, the season finally took off on Christmas Day.  Many of the top teams of the NBA were showcased to a national audience and while much rust was expected due to the lack of a preseason workout, there were still quite a few surprises during the first few games for many teams.  Even though I love to watch the NBA, I'm more concerned about the Lakers more than any other team.  Christmas Day saw the Lakers lose a close game to the Chicago Bulls and last night, they couldn't stop the Sacramento Kings from shooting 3 pointers.  Here are my thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers starting the season 0-2.

Thoughts on... High School of the Dead

Hey there.  Recently, it's been tough getting my horror film fix on.  Young eyes are everywhere recently and I don't want to expose the kids to anything that they shouldn't see.  I mentioned to kids the other day how I used to watch "scary movies" with my dad when I was a young boy.  Great films such as The Fly and cult classics such as Phantasm.  lol  I remember being 6 or 7 and lying in bed late at night watching those kind of films with him.  I understand the sentiment behind his actions.  He very well just wanted to share a hobby of his with his young son.  However, being a father myself, I'm not so sure that was the best idea you had, Dad!  lol  Nevertheless, my love for horror started right then and there and though I would love for my kids to catch that bug, I wouldn't make them sit through some of the stuff I see.  Especially something like High School of the Dead.  Here are my thoughts on...  High School of the Dead.

Thoughts On... The Human Centipede 2

Hey there.  What an insane movie.  When I heard that the sequel to The Human Centipede was to be made, I knew that I had to watch it.  Weird, quirky, disgusting, intense horror flicks are what I like to watch and The Human Centipede did not disappoint in that respect.  The first film told the story of a doctor that came up with a way to create a "human centipede".  He created his specimen by attaching 3 people.  The film used it's tagline, 100% medically accurate, to intrigue viewers.  Is it really possible to attach people that way and have them survive?  The film ended in some what of a cliffhanger and I needed to watch part 2 to see what would happen next.  Especially since word on the web said that the second part would include a 12 human centipede!  So here are my thoughts on, The Human Centipede 2!  *SPOILERS AHEAD*

Thoughts On... PETA Attacking Super Mario

Hey there.  PETA, I get you.  Our animal friends need someone to look out for them.  Someone to make sure they're still around for our kids to enjoy.  PETA, I get it.  Some people skin and kill animals for fun and you know what, I'm not really cool with that either.  But let me tell you something, PETA, when you have beef with Mario, as in THE Super MARIO, then you have gone off the deep end.

Thoughts on... The Duggars Expecting Their 20th Child

Hey there.  Many years ago, the world was introduced to the Duggar family.  TLC first brought them to the limelight with their spectacular show, 16 and Counting (I think...).  Since then, the Duggars have welcomed a few more additions to their family and have even welcomed a grandchild.  All showcased on TLC for the world to hear.  Today, the Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar appeared on NBC's Today Show and announced that they are now expecting their 20th child.  WOW!!!

Hey there.  You know... I wonder if God owns a phone.  How else can you explain the Carson Palmer trade from Cincy Bengals to the Oakland Raiders?  This deal has the late great Al Davis written all over it.  Davis was notorious for trading picks for player he believed would better the Raiders.  And now, we have learned that the Raiders have traded away the 2012 first round pick and the 2013 second round pick, which could be a  first round pick depending on Palmer's performance, for the former Heisman winner, Carson Palmer.

Hey there.  Welcome to my new series of posts!  Some of the other popular series that I take part on are Funny Friday, Motivational Monday, and the Ode to series.  Today, I am now adding the Thoughts on series to that list.  The vast majority will be based on films since I love to watch movies and they are usually the ones that I talk about the most.  But first, let's lay some guidelines as to how this is going to work.  First and foremost, this is NOT a review, I will NOT tiptoe around certain scenes, and there WILL be spoilers.  I will be speaking as if I'm conversing with someone that has already seen the movie and will express thoughts and emotions that came to be as I watched the movie.  I strongly suggest that if you plan on watching this movie someday, you do it now before I kill it for you.  lol  Maybe my thoughts will be that of the norm or maybe they'll be so out there and people will be like, how did you come up with that?!  I don't know.  I just figured that this would be a good way to convey some of the inner workings of my brain.  lol  So let's begin, no?

Introducing the "Thoughts on..." Series

Hey there.  I watch a lot of movies and I love catching some of the more under the radar type films.  I'm more inclined to watch Asian horror films (my favorite) but I also try to catch some American horror films... regardless of how bad they are.  My problem?  I want to tell you, my readers, about these films but you know what my problem is?  I give too much away.  I can't do a review of the film because it's less of a review and more of a synopsis.  So I decided that I'm no longer going to do review type posts but instead do a "Thoughts on..." post.  This way, I'll tell you guys, right off the bat, that there will be spoilers because I want to convey my thoughts on the film.  What worked, what didn't, was it awesome, was it awful, and anything else that came to mind while I was watching the film.

Thoughts on... Ratatouille

Hey there. Just got through watching this film with the kids and I must say, I enjoyed it very much. C'mon now, a cooking rat that interacts with humans? You don't see that everyday and you see plenty of crazy things out there in the world of animation. Far and beyond, my favorite line of the movie is, "I don't mean to be rude but... we're French" Oh man, I laughed my ass off on that one.

Thoughts On... Elfen Lied

Hey there. What a series! This has to be one of the top short anime series ever. Despite it being some 13 episodes long, it was extremely entertaining and I didn't want to stop watching the series. Lucy was/is one bad mo'fo. For those of you who have not seen, I suggest you do so now before you continue reading. lol I thought the intro to the show was intriguing. I caught myself humming the tune on several occassions and the fact that it's sung in latin adds a mystique to it that suits real well. The opening 7 minutes just grabs you and does not let go. I could go without the nakedness but it difinitely made me go whoa... There are some spoilers below.  If you plan on watching it, go do that first and then come back!  Now, my thoughts on... Elfen Lied.
