Thoughts On... the Xbox One

Introducing... the Xbox One!
Hey there.  It's here!  The big unveiling of the next gen Xbox console.  It's not Xbox Durango, it's not Xbox Infinity.  It's Xbox One!  I'm sure many of you reading this have already checked some, if not all of the 2 hour presentation earlier today.  I'm not going to get into the specifics.  There are plenty of websites with people way smarter than me that will break down the Xbox One specs for you.  I'm an average Joe that loves games.  I have some curiosities about the Xbox One and I have a few thoughts that came to mind while checking out the presentation.  So here are my thoughts on the Xbox One reveal.

Starting a Website is Not as Hard as it Seems

Hey there.  I have been in the blogging game for the better part of 5 years now.  5 years... that still shocks me, you know.  When I started off, it was just something that I wanted to do.  No real plan.  No real path to take.  Just open up a new blog post and write.  If you go back and see some of my very first posts, you'll see that they are very unorganized, have little to no tags, and simply put, just all over the place.  I'm not saying that's bad, I'm just saying that when you jump face first into the blogosphere without a plan, you tend to make more than a few mistakes while you learn.  The good thing is that you don't have to make those amateur mistakes.

My ASUS Laptop Screen is Busted... but It's OK

NOOOOOOOOO!!! NOT LUCY!!!!!!!!!!  =o(
Hey there.  You know what happened after recording an episode of the Get a Life Podcast?  My laptop screen broke.  Literally, minutes after the show.  I set my laptop down, went to grab something to drink, came back to a broken screen.  My 2 youngest (3 and 7) were running around, near my laptop, so when I questioned them about it, naturally, they pointed the finger at each other.  lol  I held it in.  I'll admit that I was pretty upset and I probably reacted a lot better than what was expected.  The kids know that the laptop is Daddy's life.  lol  Accidents happen, though.  I'm not mad... not anymore, lol,  but man was I feeling down.  I practically live off the damn thing.  I do all of my online work on my laptop and to have a busted screen was a huge bummer.  Especially since I feel pretty good about the work that I've recently done.  It pained me to think that my computer could be out of commission until I got it fixed!!!  But never fear!  A replacement screen is on it's way!  YAY!!!  I'm thinking of creating a "how to replace your screen" type post.  Create a video and all that good stuff.  I'm thinking about it.  The screen gets here tomorrow and if I'm up for it, I'll do a quick how to replace tutorial.  It'll be the first one I do so bare with me if it sucks.  lol

Thoughts On... The Anker High Precision Laser Gaming Mouse with 8000 DPI

Oh yeah!  Time to get my gaming on!
Hey there.  What's in a computer mouse?  It's just a thing to click on stuff, right?  WRONG!  A great mouse is everything when it comes to gaming.  It needs to have precision, it needs to be responsive, it needs to have buttons that are fully customizable, and it needs to be easy to use.  It sounds like a lot is going on in that sentence, doesn't it?  Well, our good friends at Anker provided me with the Anker High Precision Laser Gaming Mouse with 8000 DPI and it is EXACTLY what you are looking for in a high quality gaming mouse.  After more than a week of trying out this mouse, I can honestly say that it's the best mouse that I have every used.  Not just for gaming but for every day use as well.  Let's get to it, shall we?

Stick it to Viruses! FixMeStick Review and Giveaway

Me and my new ammo against Viruses and Malware!
Hey there.  I was recently contacted by our good friends at FixMeStick and was offered an opportunity to try out their latest product:  The FixMeStick.  Let me paint a picture for you.  You're off, browsing the web like we all do, purchased some music, viewed some funny videos, and then... your computer crashes.  Oh man...  You get it load up but you notice it's a little sluggish.  Then there are a few pop ups that don't seem to want to go away.  Worst case scenario, the computer won't even boot up anymore because of the viruses and malware that have infected your computer.  Before you even get a chance to assess the damage, the virus or malware have taken over your computer.  You now consider it "useless" and need to get your tech friend to clean out your computer and hope to have it working soon.  Now, how many times have THAT happened to you?  I can tell you right now that I have cleaned out my fair share of computers and laptops and it can be a tedious task since computer threats have been getting smarter and more difficult to find and eliminate.  The FixMeStick makes this tedious task of virus removal extremely easy!

Protect Your Identity with LifeLock

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LifeLock Linkedin for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

AmeliaIZEA | skitch.com

Hey there.  Have you ever had your identity stolen?  It sucks.  I should know.  I've been battling with credit card companies over the validity of some credit cards that were opened under my name and it has been an extreme pain.  I've battled for well over a year or so, sent in letters, asked for proof, called constantly, and even after all that, these credit card companies still claim that those cards are mine and those charges are mine.  And those are just the beginning of the problems.  Each month those cards sit there unpaid are points being knocked off your credit score.  A bad score is detrimental to plans of owning a home or obtaining credit elsewhere!  The long term ramifications of having your identity stolen could take years before you are fully recovered!!!  So how did these people manage to steal my identity?  I don't know...  but considering the numerous ways that you identity can be stolen, you need to have someone who has your back.  You need someone like LifeLock protecting you.

Malware Warning! IZEA Media Ads Cause 1,000s of Websites to be Flagged by Google

Hey there.  If you have stopped by my website anytime within the past 24 hours, you may have gotten a message saying that my website may contain malware and it may be dangerous to view my website.  Rest assured that if you proceeded to my site, you were NOT infected with malware.  There was no malware hosted on this site.  The problem?  The IZEA Media Ad block that I was running in the right column.  Turns out that an advertiser purchased a spot in the ad block from IZEA and somehow, someway, that advertiser managed to get through the IZEA screening with some kind of malicious code on their ad.  In effect, Google flagged THOUSANDS of webpages running the IZEA Media Ad block as hosting  malware, causing that red warning screen.

Vipre The Next Gen in AntiVirus Software

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of GFI for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Hey there.  One of the worst things that can happen to your computer is for it to get malware or a virus.  It can be catastrophic.  At best, you'll have annoying pop ups to deal with.  At worse, you'll have useless computer.  I've seen it happen many times.  I do computer work for many friends and family and that converstation always starts with, "I think I have a virus."  There are many free antivirus and malware detectors out there.  The problem with them, though, is that they WILL slow your computer down.  The last thing you want is to sacrifice speed and power to protect yourself from online threats.  This is why Vipre Antivirus program has now taken the top spot in software programs that you must have on your computer.
