Finding Nemo Sequel Announced! Finding Dory

In theaters Nov. 25th, 2015
Hey there!  Well, it's about time!  Finding Nemo is one of those films that I absolutely adore.  I would watch it all the time on DVD with the kids.  Even today, we'll pop in the DVD every now and then and sit and watch.  It's just one of those timeless classics that you will always remember.  Whether it be the story of a father looking for his son or awesome job Ellen DeGeneres did as the lovable Dory, Finding Nemo has something that appeals to both the parents and the kids.  Pixar has a knack for that.  Many of their films touch everyone in their hearts and many of us look forward to the sequels.  I, for one, wondered when we would get a Finding Nemo sequel.  Well, my friends... now we know!  Finding Dory, the sequel to Finding Nemo has been announced!

What I'm Playing... Kersploosh!

Hey there.  Do you member a time when it fun to toss a rock?  Whether it be trying to knock over a tin can or trying to get it to skip across water, as a child, the most mundane of objects could become an afternoon of fun.  That is the first thought that came to my head to moment I started playing Kersploosh!, on the Nintendo 3DS.  The good people at Nintendo provided me a copy of the game and I am thankful that they did.  The family and I have been taking turns trying to 1 up each others times, and even though there are many big name downloads on the Nintendo eShop, Kersploosh! is one of those rare gems that the whole family can enjoy together.  Well, let's get into it, shall we?

When it Rains, it Pours

Hey there.  I'm one upbeat guy.  For those of you that know me on a more personal level, you know that it can be pretty tough to bring me down.  Despite a lot of negativity and bad luck, I tend to pick up the pieces and pull forward with optimism.  But something happened yesterday.  A recent string of unfornate events have damaged my armor and may finally be getting to me.  I won't go into much details but I will say that my vehicle was missing after work.  Yup....  Gone.  Living in Los Angeles, something to get around on is a MUST.  I was upset, I was frustrated, I was angry, but in the end, I was down.  Not so much because of this one instance, but more because of what my daughter said to my wife after I told them the news:

Filthy Mudblood

Hey there.  I love this and the reason I believe that I love this so much is because a conversation like this would SO HAPPEN between my daughter and I.  lol  Yeah... I'm that kind of parent.  Once, while walking my daughters to school, I said, "Let's robot across the street!"  LMAO!  The younger and I start doing it and my older daughter goes, "DAD!", and walks faster.  Ah... the joys of being a parent!  =oD  Later!

My ASUS Laptop Screen is Busted... but It's OK

NOOOOOOOOO!!! NOT LUCY!!!!!!!!!!  =o(
Hey there.  You know what happened after recording an episode of the Get a Life Podcast?  My laptop screen broke.  Literally, minutes after the show.  I set my laptop down, went to grab something to drink, came back to a broken screen.  My 2 youngest (3 and 7) were running around, near my laptop, so when I questioned them about it, naturally, they pointed the finger at each other.  lol  I held it in.  I'll admit that I was pretty upset and I probably reacted a lot better than what was expected.  The kids know that the laptop is Daddy's life.  lol  Accidents happen, though.  I'm not mad... not anymore, lol,  but man was I feeling down.  I practically live off the damn thing.  I do all of my online work on my laptop and to have a busted screen was a huge bummer.  Especially since I feel pretty good about the work that I've recently done.  It pained me to think that my computer could be out of commission until I got it fixed!!!  But never fear!  A replacement screen is on it's way!  YAY!!!  I'm thinking of creating a "how to replace your screen" type post.  Create a video and all that good stuff.  I'm thinking about it.  The screen gets here tomorrow and if I'm up for it, I'll do a quick how to replace tutorial.  It'll be the first one I do so bare with me if it sucks.  lol

Thoughts On... Wreck it Ralph

Hey there.  Wreck it Ralph is right up my alley.  It's a movie paying homage to retro video games and somewhere in all of the video game character cameos, there is a feel good story of a bad guy wanting more than just being well... a bad guy.  When I first saw the trailer for this film, I just had to see it.  Being a gamer that was raised off of the retro games, it immediately grabbed my attention.  Seeing familiar faces from games past was not only nostalgic but also brought back fond memories of my youth.  If you haven't had the chance to catch this film, go do it before you will have to wait for the Wreck it Ralph DVD/Blu Ray release.  WARNING!  SPOILERS BELOW!  Now, here are my thoughts on... Wreck it Ralph.

Keep Track of Your Child's Developement and Milestones with the Baby Zoe App

Hey there. As a parent, I love to keep track of the milestones that my kids achieve. Whether it be the date when my baby first crawled or walked to when they lost their first tooth. Unless you have a physical calendar that you keeps for years and years, this information can easily be lost. That is... unless you have the Baby Zoe app. The creators of the Baby Zoe app, Rusten and Karen Gomez, are like any other parents, worried about thier kids' health, what information needed for their doctors, and what could be done to ease the uncertainty that many of parents have with healthcare. The Baby Zoe app helps in all those areas and more! You can find the Baby Zoe app at the Apple App Store and at the Google Play App Store and the best part...  It's FREE!

The Hunger Games Movie Giveaway at Film Book

Hey there friends.  I saw The Hunger Games film not too long ago and even though I hear that the book is superior to the film, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit.  It may be the fact that I love competition and a competition to the death is right up my alley.  When I get a chance, I plan on reading the books.  Because I'm a Kindle Fire owner, I have access to the borrowing library at the Amazon book store.  It's great, I can borrow a book a month.  I grabbed The Hunger Games and my 11 year old daughter blazed right throught it!  She's already finished Catching Fire and is now reading Mocking Jay.  I guess these books are the real deal!  Anyways, our good friends at Film Book are offering The Hunger Games on Blu Ray.  The giveaway will run from now until Oct. 21st.  3 winners will be selected to receive their own copy of the The Hunger Games on Blu Ray shortly after that!  You can enter the giveaway by using the widget below.  You can also score additional entries and reading all the terms and conditions in the original post.

So tell me, which one of the 3 books is your favorite?  Or are you waiting to catch the story in movie theaters?  Later!

August Photo a Day - Heart

Hey there.  Today's photo is supposed to be of a heart.  I decided that I would do a quick sketch of a heart with the names of my wife and kids surrounding it.  In essence, that is my heart.  The wife and kids will always be in my heart and they always come first.  The sketch is not one of my best hearts ever drawn, but it's something that I wanted to share with you.  Later!

Potty Training with Pull Ups

Hey there.  I am officially ready to declare my 2 year old boy potty trained!  YES!  No more dirty diapers but that has been replaced by many, and I do mean many, trips to my son's potty.  For those of you that haven't had the experience of potty training a child, let me tell you... it's not an easy task.  It can be very frustrating, messy, and may sometimes feel down right impossible.  But don't worry!  From my experience, it's all about the right technique to help your child learn to use the potty.  But before you embark on this incredible task with your child, you need to make sure you are well prepared.  A kid's potty, dependable Pull Ups, plenty of baby wipes, and a lot of patience will go a long way to making sure your child becomes successful!

The Kids Showing Interest in Music and Sports

Great job, boy!
Hey there.  When I was in middle school (let's go Edison EAGLES!) I was introduced to a lot of extra curricular activities.  There was the ROTC team, music, running, basketball... It's one of those times in your life where you decide which path to take.  I could have done the sports thing.  I love sports and it would have been great to jump into that, but as many of you know, my love was invested in music.  I went the musical route and devoted my middle school life to that.  Yes, my friends.  I was a band geek.  But that doesn't mean I didn't participate in sports activities in school.  I also did some running for the school and did a few relay races and mile runs.  Nothing too fancy, mind you, but it was done.  With all things considered, it's pretty awesome to see that the kids are following suit.  Check it out.  The boy in his first cross country run (The Long Beach Middle School Cross Country Championship) and my oldest daughter in her first orchestra recital.

The Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 5000 with SmartGuide Toothbrush

An Oral-B toothbrush with power!
Hey there.  This year, I turned 30 years old and I made a promise to myself to take better care of myself. Not because I'm in poor health or anything of that sort, but because it's a healthy lifestyle that I want to integrate into my life.  I started to exercise regularly, started going on morning runs, and I started to pay more attention to my personal hygiene and grooming habits.  I want to make sure that I am at my best going forward and nothing says great hygiene than an awesome smile.  That's the first thing that people see when they meet someone, you know.  A bright smile can convey confidence and that's what I want.  My teeth have coffee stains and I've been thinking of getting a more serious toothbrush to tackle those stains and attain that awesome smile.  Good thing that my good friends at Dad Central and Oral-B provided me with a toothbrush that claims to do just that.  Check out this bad boy!  The Oral-B ProfessionalCare Smart Series 5000 with SmartGuide (Oral-B 5000) toothbrush!

The Magic of Chucky and Child's Play

Hi, I'm Chucky wanna play?
Hey there.  It's Friday night and we're hanging out at home looking for a movie to watch.  We could go out and catch a just released film but we decided to browse through Netflix to see what we could find.  What we decided on was Child's Play, the 1988 cult classic.  The kids haven't seen it.  They're more into the new stuff.  They care not for 80s awesome unless I bring it up and tell them about it.  I always said how some of my earliest memories are that of my dad and I staying up watching movies on HBO.  I'm sure my mother didn't approve.  I was no more than 8 years old or so and there I was, watching Child's Play, Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Phantasm, Hellraiser, you know, movies along those lines.  Looking back at them now, they aren't really child material and I wouldn't show my kids stuff like that at that young of an age.  Anyways, Child's Play came up on Netflix and there I go, saying how awesome it is that we just have to watch it.

The Color Run was Freakin' Awesome

Hey there.  So yesterday was our first ever 5K.  I've wrote about it a few times before and if you don't know what The Color Run is, shame on you!  lol  If you don't know, I forgive you this time.  The Color Run is a short 5K run where you get splattered with paint after every kilometer.  We were a group of 4, but the kids went with us as well.  We found out that our youngest was able to run for free so my wife made him a number and pinned it to his shirt.  The older kids didn't miss out, though.  They didn't get a chance to run the 5K, poor planning on my part, but they did get a chance to join us at the finish line and be a part of the massive coloring celebration!  Enough talking!  On to the pics!

The Adventures of Softita and Crunchita

Hey there.  You know what I like to do for fun?  I make up little short stories (and songs!) about whatever pops into my head OR whatever is on TV.  I don't do it for me... I do it for the kids!  lol  My wife is not the biggest fan.  If she is, she has a pretty weird way of showing it.  Facepalming is a form appreciation right!  See!!!  You did it just now, huh dear?  lmao!  Anyways, it's pretty common for me to start singing Family Maaaaaaaaaaan (a la Rocket Man) while watching Stewie from Family Guy sing it or see an awesome commercial and then turn to one of the kids and say, "In a world..." and go off and do my own little drama filled commercial of whatever we just saw on TV.  Yeah... I do that.

Daaaaaaad! Moooooooom!

Cute:  Daaaaad!!! Look!  I sit myself!
Hey there.  MOM!!!  DAD!!!  What parent hasn't heard their kid screaming at the top of their lungs because at that moment in time, they need their mom or dad?  lol  When the kids are under 4 or 5, it's cute.  The other weekend, I was playing basketball with friends and family and I took the kids to the park.  The wife wasn't feeling all that great that morning so when our 2 year old needed a parent, what do you think I heard? DAAAAAAAD!!!  lol  And you know what... he was a cutie pie doing it.  The guys that I was playing basketball with are dads too so they knew the drill.  We all heard dad out in the distance and we stopped and turned around to see where it was coming from and to make sure the young one wasn't hurt.  He wasn't hurt...  he needed help sitting on the bench... or he needed me to get his older sister to NOT tie his hair... or, in his eyes, did something awesome and NEEDED dad to see.  lol  Like I said, under 5 years old, it's cute.

Thoughts on... The Woman in Black

Hey there.  Sometime last week, I treated the family out to the theaters to catch a flick.  The wife found this great spot where movie tickets are no more than $3.  Now that is awesome!  The only catch is that the films have been out for more than a month so they're not the newest of films.  Nevertheless, if I haven't seen em, they're new to me and to catch a flick on the big screen for only $3 is pretty damn awesome!  Anyways, the film that we ended up watching was The Woman in Black starring Harry Potter.. er... Daniel Radcliffe.  I've heard that the film was worth a look and I'm still trying to shake Radcliffe as Potter.  lol  If you haven't had a chance to see the film and plan to, don't continue.  SPOILERS AHEAD!  But you have seen it, then go ahead and read my thoughts on...  The Woman in Black.

Thoughts on... Paranormal Activity 3

Paranormal Activity 3 Movie Poster
Hey there.  We recently checked out Paranormal Activity 3.  The wife and I have seen the first two and I don't find them as frightening as my wife does.  I remember her being spooked to the point where we needed to sleep with a light on for awhile.  lol  When it comes to horror films, I usually watch them by myself unless I can convince her to watch them with me.  Needing a movie to check out, this was a great candidate for one to watch with the wife and kids.  Yup... the kids.  The film is rated R so you guys might want to check it out first before watching it with the preteens, but there really isn't anything going on but a lot of swear words.  Since this is the third part of the series and the wife already knows what to expect (eerie noises, quick movements, and blank stares at the camera) I wasn't too worried that the film would be a little too much for the family.  If you plan on seeing the film, don't read further.  SPOILERS AHEAD.  But if you've seen it and what to hear my take, read on.  Here are my thoughts on... Paranormal Activity 3.
