Try the Hot or Not App and Enter to Win $1000

Hey there.  Remember when we were kids and you would hang out at the school yard, people watching?  My friends and I would spend our lunch time going, "She's a cutie.  She's a hottie." whenever an attractive female came our way.  I'm certain that it wasn't just the guys doing it since I would often catch groups of girls doing the same thing.  We never hurt or disrespected anyone by doing it and it was just simple fun for us to have at that time.  Well, what if I told you that you can do the same thing now and possibly win $1000?  You'd jump on it, right?  Hot or Not has just released a major update for their Hot or Not App and want you guys to check it out.  You can scroll through thousands of pictures on your mobile device and rate them as you see fit.  You can also like and share pictures, chat with other users, check out your friend's scores, and find out what kind of common interests others close have with you.  You can even submit your own picture and let the users rate your picture!  And let's not forget about the Hot or Not Sweepstakes!

First off, we brought the Get a Life Podcast back.  It was on hiatus for a bit and was on a 3 week vacation these past three week but fear not dear Metal Maniacs (Metallman fans... maybe?  lol  the fan name is still a work in progress)!  We have 2 guests lined up to join us in the coming weeks.  Australian indie developer, Witch Beam, Co-Creator Santana Mishra will join us to disuss the Xbox One Parity Clause and Witch Beams' latest game, Assault Android Cactus, being released on PC.  We also have the beautiful, talented, and self proclaimed geek, actress Jacqui Holland, lined up to have a chat about her up coming films, her production company, MindFuc Films, and just generally geeking out over horror films and pop culture!

Amazon Introduces the Kindle Fire HDX

The new Kindle Fire HDX starting at $229!
Hey there.  I currently own a Kindle Fire HD.  I love the damn thing.  It's constantly being used at home.  Either by my wife, the kids, or myself.  Someone always wants to use it.  And why not?  It's great for web browsing, videos look awesome, and because it's powered by Android, you get a whole slew of apps to browse through.  I really thought that the Kindle Fire HD would be the tablet to take over the tablet market... but now, a new tablet has been announced.  It's faster, lasts longer, and it's has an even better display.  And no... it's not from Apple or Samsung or ASUS or Google... it's from Amazon themselves.  They've improved the Kindle Fire HD and have created the Kindle Fire HDX!

Thoughts on... The Purge

The Purge Movie Poster
Hey there. What would you do if any and all crime was legal for 12 hours?  Would you lock down at home?  Would you go out and loot, steal, and kill to your heart's content?  If allowing all crime to be legal for 12 hours will guarantee you that there will be NO crime for the rest of the year, will your moral compass accept "The Purge?"  When I first heard of this movie, I thought that the concept of it was intriguing.  Sometime in future America, for 12 full hours, all crime is legal.  There will be no cops, no medical personel.  Every man, woman, and child for themselves.  This, my friends, is The Purge.  By allowing the citizens to participate in The Purge, crime during the rest of the year is practically non existant.  I caught this movie last weekend and I must say that I definitely have some thoughts on it, but first, a warning:  SPOILERS AHEAD!!!  Go catch the movie, and then come back and let's have a discussion, friends!  Now, my thoughts on... The Purge.

Popular Casino Scenes in Movies

We all wish to win big like in the movies!
Casino gaming is a popular pastime for people around the globe. This trend has been captured in film with many casino scenes appearing in movies. While today, online casinos are the top place to gamble, films instead focus on land based casinos. These casino scenes use many different casino games. However, table games seem to be the most popular to include in film. Blackjack is one casino table game that has been shown in many movies. The game has a certain amount of risk associated with it. Also, the illegal practice of card counting often appears in these movie scenes.

Hey there.  It's here!  The big unveiling of the next gen Xbox console.  It's not Xbox Durango, it's not Xbox Infinity.  It's Xbox One!  I'm sure many of you reading this have already checked some, if not all of the 2 hour presentation earlier today.  I'm not going to get into the specifics.  There are plenty of websites with people way smarter than me that will break down the Xbox One specs for you.  I'm an average Joe that loves games.  I have some curiosities about the Xbox One and I have a few thoughts that came to mind while checking out the presentation.  So here are my thoughts on the Xbox One reveal.

Hey there. The wife is a huge Sex and the City fan.  She recently started to follow the early adventures of Carrie Bradshaw on the The Carrie Diaries.  The show always gives her ideas when it comes to fashion. What looks good and what doesnt and more often than not, she'll look to see where she can snag the outfits seen on the show.  Carrie Bradshaw has always been known for her great sense of fashion and this week on The Carrie Diaries is no different. At the beginning of episode 112: "A First Time for Everything" Carrie can be seen sporting the Up in the Tee Tops from ModCloth. A boldly patterned peplum top featuring a green tree atop a pattern of red, coral, and azure, Carrie could definitely use the calming effect this top can have after an interesting exchange with her boyfriend. Finding Nemo Sequel Announced! Finding Dory

In theaters Nov. 25th, 2015
Hey there!  Well, it's about time!  Finding Nemo is one of those films that I absolutely adore.  I would watch it all the time on DVD with the kids.  Even today, we'll pop in the DVD every now and then and sit and watch.  It's just one of those timeless classics that you will always remember.  Whether it be the story of a father looking for his son or awesome job Ellen DeGeneres did as the lovable Dory, Finding Nemo has something that appeals to both the parents and the kids.  Pixar has a knack for that.  Many of their films touch everyone in their hearts and many of us look forward to the sequels.  I, for one, wondered when we would get a Finding Nemo sequel.  Well, my friends... now we know!  Finding Dory, the sequel to Finding Nemo has been announced!

Catch The Bible Miniseries on The History Channel

Hey there.  Did you guys catch the series premier of The Bible on The History Channel?  No?  You guys missed out!  Before I get into The Bible miniseries, I want to let you guys know how much I love The History Channel.  The deal with history is that it's already done.  You can't change it, you can only tell the story.  The History Channel has not only found a way to tell those stories in innovative, thought provoking, or simply in an entertaining fashion, but they have been able to take well known events and create shows that are simply awesome.  That's where The Bible miniseries falls in.  The History Channel debuted the 10 part miniseries on March 3, 2013 at 8PM and each part will retell one of the many stories that are in the bible.

February 12th is Pancake Day

Hey there.  Did you guys know that Feb. 12th is Pancake Day?!?!  As I was going about my daily business, I noticed that there was a lot of emphasis put on pancakes.  I thought to myself, well... maybe today people finally realized how awesome pancakes are and decided to show the world!  I mean, c'mon... pancakes are the perfect breakfast food.  When the family and I decide to have breakfast at a restarant, it doesn't matter where, I will order pancakes.  I love them that much.  But I must admit... I missed out on the Pancake Day fun.  I would have loved to have made pancakes for the family, or head on over to a local restaurant for some pancakes for dinner!  Hey!  Pancakes are great anytime of day.  Don't judge me!  lol  Anyways, I missed out yesterday.  But you know what... I don't need wait until next year for some pancake fun!

Thoughts On... Wreck it Ralph

Hey there.  Wreck it Ralph is right up my alley.  It's a movie paying homage to retro video games and somewhere in all of the video game character cameos, there is a feel good story of a bad guy wanting more than just being well... a bad guy.  When I first saw the trailer for this film, I just had to see it.  Being a gamer that was raised off of the retro games, it immediately grabbed my attention.  Seeing familiar faces from games past was not only nostalgic but also brought back fond memories of my youth.  If you haven't had the chance to catch this film, go do it before you will have to wait for the Wreck it Ralph DVD/Blu Ray release.  WARNING!  SPOILERS BELOW!  Now, here are my thoughts on... Wreck it Ralph.
